Roster and editor problems:

Postby EMan on Fri May 19, 2006 2:34 pm

Ok, long post upcoming. Recently I downloaded a couple new rosters for NBA Live 2005. Each one had problems though (I downloaded the NLSC one and one entitled Hsu Jason's roster update, both found on this site in the downloads section).

The first one I tried was the NLSC one. After installing it and going into the game, I started to update the roster itself a little bit (it wasn't too far off from what the real rosters are at the moment). Unfortunately, whenever I tried to look at a created players info, this is what it looked like:

This was the problem with pretty much all the created players. I tried the other roster I downloaded, same problem. So I opened up Diego Rostagnol's editor (latest version) and set to trying to edit their hometowns properly. I started with Atlanta, John Edwards.

Double clicking his name got this:

Clicking "ok" on that error box nets this error:

I clicked Continue and then opened John Edwards info panel:

Apparently he was born today and has no birthtown.

The Appearance tab is even worse:

And last, but not least, his stats panel (no wonder the Hawks aren't so good):

All zeroes.

It was like this with every other created player. I couldn't edit anything because no matter what I changed, the unhandled exception error (same one from the pic titled editorerror2.jpg) would show up.

I tried opening the database files in Excel to see if I could fix them from there. No such luck. In fact it messed the rosters up so they wouldn't load, so I re-installed them.

Just in case anyone asks, I use WinXP Professional with SP2. My copy of NBA Live 2005 is fully up to date official patch wise (think there was only one official patch anyway). I also have the latest version of Diego's editor.

Any ideas on how to fix this stuff so I can edit these players?

I can't help you with the editor problems but as far as the roster is concerned, that error comes up as I had to replace the original birthstate.dbf and birthtown.dbf files because of an error that sometimes occurs when creating players (the same thing happens with NBA Live 06). Best way to overcome it is to give the created players their correct birthplace information in players.dbf or set it to one of the blank IDs in the default birthtown.dbf file (I can't remember which ID that is offhand).
