what is the names.dbf?

this file is used by the game, in this file are stored names and surnames of fantasy players/trainers/scouts/assistant coaches that the game will generates randomly in the preseason (rookies and sophomores) and when starting a dynasty mode (trainers/scouts/assistants). I'm working on a version with lots of italian names for my italian championship patch =).

is there anyway to get the announcer to say your created players name if he has one of these names?

I think only if the name of the player already exists. Could happens that the game will generate a new Michael Jordan or Tim Duncan or Larry Bird etc... The funny thing could be that the game generates someone like Jordan Duncan Bird etc as assistant coaches, trainer or scout
