Too few buttons on Gamepad?

Fri Oct 14, 2005 6:39 am

Hi everybody!

I suppose I´m missing out on something here, so hopefully this problem should be solved rather quickly.

I´m playing the game (PC) with a USB Controller that looks very much like a PS2 Gamepad. It has 10 Buttons, a two-axis cross and two analog sticks.

Now that´s not quite enough for all the functions to be called. Especially, I don´t have enough of them to pull off plays - no more buttons for quick play #1-4 (let alone "off-ball" and stuff).

I thought it would work out easily by using the keyboard a little for that stuff, but that doesn´t work - it´s either using the keyboard OR the controller. Or, do use both, but then there´s one teammate supposedly controlled by the keyboard, one by the gamepad. Which is no good either, since I don´t have four hands.

So - anybody know what I´m missing out on here? Or is EA seriously telling me I need a 20-button-controller or must use the keyboard in order to have all the control functions at my fingertips?

I have a ... let me count ... 11 button controller, and as far as I know there's nothing I'm missing.

Quick Plays for me are the D-pad (two axis cross, as you called it), but you may need another button for Off-ball.

Ah, so that´s what you call the thingy in English.

And yeah, duh, should´ve found out myself you can use the D-Pad as 4 buttons and move around with the left analog stick instead. Dang 16-bit-video-console veterans, they´re always shying away from using those things.

Well, so that´s that; problem solved. Thanks alot, Cable Guy! :D

And as for the off-ball, well, I´ll manage without, I guess.

I know how to do of ball. Take the right analog stick and push it down. You may need to move it around a little. U should be able to choose a player to control now.
