How are cap shooting styles determined?

Postby Abctest123 on Sat Sep 17, 2005 9:19 am

im wondering this because usually in this game, centres and powerforwards that play the post have that extremely ugly shot while the shorter guards have just a normal jumpshot, and i dunno who else has the shooting style that brent barry has, which has very little movement, looks like hes only moving his hands and wrist. But when i created players to update my rosters (ie. matt bonner, charlie v, joey graham), charlie v isnt a pf that plays the perimeter and plays the post (atleast i think he does) but he has the shooting style of a normal small forward. anyone have the answer?

It has to do with dribbling, quickness and speed ratings. If all are above 50, the player will have the smoother shot that guards and SF's have. If any (I think) are below 50, the player will have the 'big man' type shot. I'm not sure about Barry, though, it could just be you, in that you shoot very well with him and he seems to have a different type of shot because of it.

And I'm going to see them in Toronto!

Just to add to that, as a general rule of thumb players than can pro hop have the regular shooting animation...at least I don't think I've encountered any big men that can't pro hop that shoot with the regular form.

it cant be what you mentioned about the speed, quickness and dribbling because grant hill has that ugly sot animation.

now that youve mentioned it, i just realized ive tried using every team in this game other than the magic, therefore i havent seen grant hill's shot animation. Yes i might have played AGAINST the magic but oddly enough (actually not too surprising), but everytime ive played against the magic in a dynasty game, he was always injured  Thanks for the responses by the way people, ya and i think what andrew is right, everyone that has the pro-hop i think has the normal shot formation (might not be, rasheed has that ugly looking shot, but im not sure if he has the pro-hop or does he have that turn-step thing) Anyone else care to give their thought about this issue?

I discovered if a player weighs 225 lbs or more and dribbling is 49 and below he will shoot like that no matter what's his speed and quickness rating and position.

Whoever is the one that did motion capture for this shot, and the person that approved of it should be eliminated from time and space. (Y)
