POWER SUPPLY

Sat Sep 10, 2005 1:22 am

Hi there, i have 300 Watt power supply and i have 3 pci-cards, Celeron 1.7 CPU, 768 mb ddr (two sticks) and Geforce 4 MX 440 AGP card, 3 IDE devices. My question is: I check power via ASUS PC PROBE and sometimes +12 becomes +11.7 and +5 becomes +4.7 on load. Should i get a new stronger.

ALSO what shows me to buy a new Power supply? Some of 500 Watt Power Supplies which are aobut 110 $ , reports same decreasings...

I want to play NBA LIVE with better graphic card but if i buy 550 watt , same values can be shown... i'm not sure.

What should i look as criterion or which software?

you can calculate an estimate usage here:

upgrading a grafix card on that system won't oblige you to buy a new psu i think because the heavier grafix cards will make your system choke, they're too fast for that cpu.

I know this site and i'm not sure that if i really need a new PSU does the voltage reducing really require new power suplly?

Anyway is there any criterion to buy new PSU comparing with current system?

i dont think so

actually a 300w psu on a monster machine is not right. surge issues and stuff. just get a 350 or 500 W and things will be back to normal. frequent hang ups may be a sign of a RAM module or mobo being undersupplied. so beware

I know and i'm suspicious of power but maybe my other harddisk gave an I/O error after my new one hangs... Interesiting , no ne resolved that and it's logical to buy a new PSU to eliminate all other reasons.
