PC player vs. player

Mon Aug 22, 2005 8:49 am

After months and years of permanently kicking my brother´s Ass on virtually any Live Game, i felt like i need to seek help here to clear up that ridiculous situation because Bro finally asked me to uninstall the game cos´ he can´t take it any longer. :D

In Live 05, we started playing a season (every game for each team) with fantasy rosters, each one having a 99 rating. two weeks into the season my team was still undefeated while managing to hand his team losses even with some crappy opponents like jazz or warriors.

Facing the fact that two 99 rated teams suck, we quit season mode and stated playing only playoff mode for more realism. The first playoffs, he won like one or two games. I even eliminated the Mavs with the Spurs with Duncan injured.

My Brother ain´t no rookie, he beats AI on superstar, but he got so mad he said the keyboard has some kind of unfair advantage (I always used keys, he the pad). So we got another Pad and the beatin went on.

Now the main problem is that every game has some incredible runs with one player hitting shots from all over the court, getting every rebound, stealing five times while the other can just watch in desperation... you know the story. Unfortunately, about 90% of the time I am the "gifted" one. Wtf can be done against these scoring runs in player vs. player games???

I guess tweaking the sliders won´t make a difference because we´re both human players... Any ideas?

I wish it would be that simple... I mean, these scoring runs are really awful. Yesterday, i hit 7/7 treys with Arenas in about five minutes and the game was done.
And it´s so predictable. You only gotta figure out which player is actually hot and that´s it. Last week i scored 112 points with Dwyane Wade and he did mostly the super highflying dunks even when his stamina was down in the basement. Then i did a quadruple double PER GAME in Min - Denver series, and almost every pass Garnett dished out was an assist, no matter if Madsen recieved it below the basket against Camby or Hoiberg got a 50 footer, no matter if contested hard or wide open. I was also able to kill Miami in another series with Milwaukee, scoring anything with Pachulia and Santiago in several Games.

On the other side the opponent is making good plays, taking open shots with good looks (including shooters like reggie, hinrich, lenard etc.) and bricking everything and even missing easy dunks.

I mean, those runs really suck and most times i even apologised to him because i had no explanation for another run that had just started that goes like 25-3 in five minutes. it is unrealistic and there needs to be somthing done about it.

quit playing on rookie level man!

Yeah right.

1. "Rookie" is NOT spelled S-u-p-e-r-s-t-a-r.

2. Maybe i AM a good player. Ever thought about it? Maybe my brother is too (maybe not quite as good). All the things i listed above are NO problem in superstar (with default sliders, that is).

3. I´ll just have to admit that Live 2005 sucks because of those scoring runs. I hope they find a way to balance the game results a little less obvious in 2006.

Play less. Problem solved.

I play with my bro too, I'm better than him, though, and what I do is if I start going on a run, I kinda play a bit easier for a few minutes/seconds, and jack up shots, or waste the clock until there's no good shot. It helps a bit to kill the scoring runs, and keeps him in the game. Sometimes I do it too much, though, and I end up losing   .

Just don't play your best, that's what I do sometimes.. Even playing against CPU 8-)
