I don't like the live soundtracks at all. I mean, each game has some nice songs, but overall they're not very good. A company like EA sports should be able to make better decisions as well as sign rights for every song they like.

I could tolerate Live 2000's soundtrack, but it wasn't long before I used the Ditty Importer to change all of the songs. I've hated every one since then, and I don't like having to turn the music off on live and play my own through a stereo just because EA can't find at least one decent musician.

Also, can we fuck off with all of these rappers talking about how great they are at basketball? Talking about all the players they'd dunk on etc, it's annoying.

I didn't particularly like any of them, but I got used to 2000, which was OK and 2003 which was decent. I, as a rule, dislike rap, so none of them are my preference.

I like 2000 most also. I don't really remember how it was in 2001, although -03, -04 and -05 has nothing on 2000 in my opinion.

I'm not quite sure what to think about the direction it has taken though; I mean I would also see them stop with these rapping basketball-wannabees (), but I'd rather hear rap/hip-hop over hard rock (á-la Madden).
I think a lot would be solved if people could just, as in Madden, specify a folder on their computer with MP3's, and have the game play those instead.

Definitely. It's not even hard to do. They got the routines for that in other games. Just copy-and-paste it over to NBA live, EA!
I have to say that I'm not into Rap music very much. But when I'm ballin, it just gets me into the right groove for the game. In real life as well as on my PC.

I think rap is problably more geared towards basketball than rock is, so I can understand there being rap which I dislike and not rock. But for everyone's sake, please get rid of the "Yo I got mad handles" rap songs. If you play madden, it was the same in 2003 and 2004, but now in 2005 they have a mix of rock and rap, and they also don't have any more rap about football.
