Xbox controller .... Pull and hold (L trigger) to set screen

Thu Jul 21, 2005 6:56 am

Hi:

I was reading in the Prima guide for the game that the following Off-Ball switch controls were available, and I was hoping someone could better explain to me what they 'really do':

When in off-ball control:

Use the B button to call for a shot (I am thinking that means the player you are NOT controlling takes the shot).

Use the A button to call for a pass (I am thinking that means the player you are NOT controlling will pass you the ball no matter what)

Use the X button to call for a dunk/layup (I am thinking that means the player you are NOT controlling will attempt a dunk/layup)

Finally, and this is the ONE that has been BUGGING the HECK out me (I've asked this question before) ....

If you PULL and HOLD the L trigger ... that will set screen

I have NO IDEA what that means and/or what really happens in the game when you do that.

I sort of wish there was a full team practice mode where you can practice running various offense plays and practice each player's moves while in a full team envoirnment ... What I have been doing is simply playing a game against a GREAT team like the Pistons ... only for offensive and defensive practice ... and a TERRIBLE team like the Bobcats.

Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

You were right about everything, once in off-ball you are able to decide what the CPU has to do (pass,shoot,etc.).

The L trigger thing is quite easy: the player you are controlling will be able to set a screen by holding down the L trigger so a teammate of yours can free himself.

Pick and Roll

So, hold the L trigger while in off-ball mode and not controlling the ball, is really like making yourself into the pick and roll (sort of).

Thanks!
