NBA Live rewriting it's own player ratings

Postby 07944 on Mon Apr 11, 2005 6:57 pm

This is the strangest things I've seen. I literally went and caculated rankings for the rookies for the following categories:

field goal, inside scoring, passing, blocking, steal, off and def rebounds. I took all the 2004 selections already in the game and edited these ratings using the results from my group of formulas.

I did this Thursday, came back to live yesterday and went to make a small change to Ben Gordon's dunk ratings (not a rating I was toying withon mass). Upon leaving this category (all I did was move dunk from 40 to 60) his rating went from 66 to 71.

I thought that's a big overall jump for the dunk category which never even use to effect player ratings on older lives.

Now, what has happened since is as follows:

Any player I go to the 'edit player' option for, and even if I go to this option, land on the page which says, gear, information etc and all I do is click done. I.E. I don't make any rating changes to this player or any player at all. Well his overall ratings changes. Why is this?

It's as though by making changes to ratings of 40 or so rookies nba live has rewritten how to calculate the overall rating.

Dwane Wade jumps from 75 to 79 and I don't even change 1 stat. I just view the player ratings page, leave it by clicking done and his stats change. I have to do this for everyone now, unless I clear the memory card and start over.

Now each teams overall rating jumps,

Dallas is at 98
Boston 92
Miami 92
Detroit 94
Chicago 88
Altanta 75
Memphis 93

etc etc.

Very strange.

Has anyone seen this?

Hi, no that is not what I mean at all.

I mean now, every player's overall rating changes when I do something like change a player to include a head band. This isn't just rookies, it has followed changes to many players stats.

So why does this now happen on the default menu?

Shouldn't this only happen in the dynasty mode?

If all I'm doing is editing players before I even venture into a season I don't see why a players overall rating changes while his other ratings don't budge at all if all I'm doing is popping a head band on him.

It makes no sense. It means I have to edit every player and actually make no changes to any of their stats to get an accurate reflection of the whole.

Sometimes overall ratings are recalculated from the default rosters, possibly because they weren't recalculated before the release. This will happen whenever you go into Edit Player.

Thanks Andrew. It didn't however happen to the first batch of players I changed. It only started happening after I edited 40-45 players. Saved the rosters, came back and made a slight adjustment to one rookie. His overall totally changed and now everyone does.

I can live with it, nothings changed really except most teams overall rating is around 4-5 points higher. The poor teams are still poor and the good are good. Just a little strange to think Dallas are at 98 and can only get 1 point better. They're rated 1 point under all the past teams and all star. Little strange.
