Teammates stop jumping to block

Postby JTCMidas on Fri Apr 08, 2005 4:12 pm

For some reason all my teammates have decided they no longer want to jump up to block shots... they just let the other team shoot them uncontested on the outside, on the inside, everywhere. They just stand there while the opponent shoots over them and never put a hand up.

I've been using Andrew's sliders for a while and it just now started doing this the past two or three games. Is this something I can change or do I have to think about reinstalling?

Nah thats what they do on superstar level, its no technical problem. Im not sure if they jump or not on all-star.

On All-star... Sometimes they jump for the block, but sometimes they don't...

It's quite realistic on all-star... Not every shot is contested due to a fake or something in real life... This cannot be done in the game without it looking rather stupid.

It's all about the difficulty level...

Anyway, All-Star is far more realistic than Superstar. On the 4th difficulty level, there are many gameplay issues that are quite strange. For example: either you block the shot or receive two/three points. Contested fadeaway turnaround jumpshot? No problem for the CPU... So I recommend playing on All-Star and simply adjust the sliders to suit your style.

Hey thanks all! I was going to cancel my dynasty I was trying to do cause of this... that's insanely stupid if you ask me... not contesting in Superstar, I can't believe that... okay, switching to All-Star and adjusting sliders. Thanks again all, super helpful!

On superstar you just have to defend yourself... It ain't that biggie... I just find the game more realistic and realistic looking when playing with all-star level... Although the game is a bit on the easy side, but I get beat every now and then and have some really close games so it's fine with me...

I have tried the super-star and your guys just get cold at some point and the AI runs away with the game... It gets very frustrating with super-star... Atleast for me...

Well I've switched to All-Star and just butchered my shooting sliders down to 20 and let the CPU have 40 in order to give about the same amount of accuracy cause it seems the lower the difficulty, the better your shots are and the worst theirs are... it seems to be working. You might want to raise the long distance shooting up to 30 and 50 because it seems you can never hit a 3 pointer even if your wide open with a great 3 point shooter.

If you wanted to play on superstar level just do what I do, switch so you are the defender on the ball at all times.
Yeah my 3 point shooting slider is a fraction higher than my other shot related sliders

I read this thread and thought I'd give it allstar a shot cause I also can't stand watching my bigs stand around while 5'11 guys go for layups. It's still a little too easy even after I adjusted my sliders if anyone has some slider suggestions I'd appreaciate them.

I always defend the ball... So I always jump up to contest shots, but it just looks stupid when a guy is making a move and taking a shot and is surrounded by three players and only one of them jumps up as you control him and the others just look as the guy shoots... Everyone would jump in real life if they were alert.

I have my shooting silders set so that lay-ups and dunks have the lowest score, short shots a point higher, mid-range a point higher than short shots and three pointers are one higher than mid-range shots... I've found out that this way, all the shots have a good chance of going in while open, but offer pretty realistic end percentages with these setting and my shot selection...

I play a pretty arcadish game in the end... I only play 8 minute quarters and get about realistic scores for a normal game... That just sadly means that there aren't realistic number of rebounds out there... Couple of guys grab normal amounts, but guards usually grab a lot less than they do in real life...
