The Nba Live 2005 is best on PC (unless you dont have controller than is a little f****d up)

Online play is pure arcade play. Don't buy it to play online unless you plan on playing in a league.

I can't comment on the online play, but the game itself is no different to the console versions in terms of gameplay - in all versions you can tweak the gameplay with the sliders.

but you can't play 2 on 2 3 on 3 4-4's on PC...

True, multiplayer is easier on the console versions. But the game itself is identical, although the PC version was released later so the default rosters are slightly more up to date.

And you can download roster updates for sites like this, which will account for all trades and injuries. THis is alot easier than manually editing every roster.

Also, if you have a good PC, the game looks way better at the higher resolution on PC.

what video card do u need? cuz mine is ati radeon 7000, and its a little laggy

Fri Mar 25, 2005 1:44 am

I have a radeon 9700 pro.

Your video card isnt bad, but it's average.

Fri Mar 25, 2005 2:48 am

could i download one to make it go faster? or do i have to cough up 100 bucks?

Fri Mar 25, 2005 3:03 am

Right, a video card is a piece of hardware, not something you can download. And a good one would cost about 200$ This would make all your games look better because you could turnt eh details up and put it at a higher resolution, and you would get more frames per second.
If you play alot of computer games it is definitely worth the money.
But you also have to have a fast enough computer, or it wont be much help to get a new video card.

thanks, u have been very helpful.

do u recommend a video card? and could i install this myself?

Fri Mar 25, 2005 3:42 am

Well, I have a radeon 9700 pro and I like it alot. I think you could probably get a radeon 9800 pro (which is even better) for around 200$, probably cheaper if you buy it online.

It isnt that hard to install. Basically tou just slide the old one out of the slot, and put the new one in. You dont need any tools or anything. Then you put the installation cd in the cd rom drive and that pretty much does the rest for you.

i found a video card at circuit city that was 60 bucks
radeon 9250 agp. Is that up there with yours or what?

Fri Mar 25, 2005 4:00 am

No, not really, that might not even be any better than yours. See, it's dead last in this benchmark:
http://www.pcstats.com/articleview.cfm? ... 638&page=5

If you find a card, do a google search for benchmarks, which are performance comparisons to other cards.

So like I found that page by googleing "radeon 9250 benchmark" or you could try "radeon 9250 review" because youa re gonna have to do some research to find the card that best fits your price range.

If you are gonna buy online, I definitely recommend www.newegg.com

thanks

www.pricewatch.com is also good. I've experienced the ordeal of upgrading my whole computer, so if you need some help I'll be willing.

If you're truly interested in upgrading (and you have a computer with at least a 1ghz processor) you may as well save up and make an investment in a video card that will last you at least for the next two releases of NBA Live.

The 6600 GT is a much better card than the 9600 XT (which I own now). If you MUST get a card for $100 I'd go with the Powercolor 9600 Pro.

I recommend this...

but this may be more in your price range.
