Retired #s

What do you do in your dynasty when a player is traded to a team where the # he wears is retired?

DBF edit it, if I notice it, that is. I try to give him a new number similar to the one he had, or maybe his drafting order, just like Iguodala did when Philly got Webber.

I meant how do you determine what # to give them and who changes #s.

Yeah, we all know you can do that. The question is to what # do you give the player?

Say for example, you're doing a dynasty and you trade LeBron James to Chicago. Would you have him keep the #23 or change it?, knowing that Michael Jordan's jersey is retired there (or is going to be again). What number would you give LeBron instead?

I'm just using LeBron as an example. It could work out several diferent ways. Shaq couldn't wear #32 on La because Magic Johnson retired it with them. Larry Bird's #33 is retired with the Celtics. Patrick Ewing's #33 with the Knicks, and so on..

Just pick them yourself I guess... give LeBron 32 instead of 23 or whatever.

Sometimes players choose a brand new number for a really obscure reason, but usually if they can't carry over their old number they'll follow some other pattern - the number either side of their original, the sum of their original number (eg 23 to 5, 2+3) or vice versa (eg 5 to 23), their college number, their Olympic number or their draft position.

Depending on who else is on the team and which numbers are available as far as retired numbers are concerned, those are fairly realistic ways of making corrections in Dynasty Mode. Or you could simply go your own way and use more "unconventional" numbers such as 89.
