Penalty

Postby warrior legolas on Sun Feb 27, 2005 9:52 am

My brother downloaded this game illegally and I’m trying to convince him that he should go and buy the game but he said that they wont do anything about it and I’m wondering what the Penalty is for downloading this game so I can convince him to just buy it.

he won't get cought, so a penalty won't be the way to convince him. you could always install bad drivers making the game crash, lol.

The penalties are quite unsevere... Maybe you should try to convince him to buy the game as piracy is the stuff that takes down gamehouses left and right... They could use the revenue... This is not so true about a monster called electronic arts, but smaller game producers could certainly use all the money they can get their hands on.

I have decided to buy the games I like and support the industry with the little money I put into it... I like playing the game so I feel like I should give something back to the "makers" so they can keep on making the great games they make...

I just hate to read those out of business announcements and it seems like they come every week and sometimes even from teams that make really good games...

You basically can't get caught and the cops won't bother to catch you unless you are making serious money on the piracy stuff... So you need to have multiple piracy games and you basically have to sell them forward to get the authorities intrested in punishing you.

I am all for free information and file sharing, but there are a lot of people who's income depend on the industry and the fact that us players buy the games.

Any legal problems aside, pirated copies of games generally aren't compatible with official updates and bug fixes.
