Where are the Dunks

So Kobe is on my team and I play the PG locked.

Part of Kobe's problem is he never goes for a dunk. Even on breakaways, he gets into the paint, stops, lets someone catch up and then takes a jump shot.

He gets the ball down low, and always goes for a layup.

Anyone know if there is a stat that controls whether players try to dunk? Kobe's dunk package is 12, his dunk ability is very high, but he always goes for the layup.

Also, as I was watching him layup, I think that guards on the computer never dunk. Vince never dunks, only jump shots and layups.

Hopefully there's a way to get guards to try dunks.

FYI I tried putting dunk frequency for CPU up to 100. Guards still do nothing but layups whether they're inside in traffic, or even if they get a free lane to the basket they usually lay it up...Kobe, Vince, everyone.

Change the layup-dunk frequency slider. Or whatever it's called. I think you bump it up to get more dunk attempts.

I wouldn't trust that though, the play of other players has always been bad during player lock.

Just use realistic sliders and they will slam the board down.


I mean i got penny hardaway as sg with dunk rating of 59 or sumthibng and he is still slammin

PLaying locked on PG.

No setting or rating will make guards dunk. Neither the players on my team or the opponents will dunk. The guards won't even dunk on fast breaks.

Playing on a team with LeBron, Kobe, VC, anyone - any guard or smaller forward will not try to dunk. I feed them the ball under the basket, they go for a layup.

I've tried:

Pumping dunk and inside scoring to 99 - no dunks

Changing scoring area to paint scorer - won't dunk

Moving slider for dunk vs layup all the way up and all the way down - no dunks

Moved dunk % all the way up - those darn guards won't dunk.

It's ridiculous. Kobe went for an under the basket move, and as he was dunking it he switched to a layup - and was blocked.

Can anyone help figure this out. Play locked on PG or any other position, and watch as your guards will not dunk. Your centers and forwards will dunk if they're inside...but the guards will never drive for a dunk. Even drives and fast breaks will be layups.

If someone can figure out how to fix this, please reply.

I thought it had something to do with height. I bumped Kobe up to 6'8", and the first time he got the ball he faked, two defenders jumped, and kobe ran in for a reverse dunk. After that, he was back to layup after layup, usually leaving them short or being blocked.

I wouldnt know what to say on this matter becuase i dont have this problem, Rip and Tayshaun dunk on everyone on my game.

Do they dunk when you control them, or when you pass them them the ball they do it on their own?

I just played against the Lakers with Kobe, and in the first quarter he played like a superstar. He was going to the basket, got a few dunks, was doing freestyle moves and getting around people. He had 11 points in the first Q, but then kind of stopped doing anything in the second.

By halftime Kobe had 16, and then he took only 3 shots the entire second half, making two and getting two freethrows to end with 22 points.

I then went to the dynasty where Kobe is on my team, and tried turning shooting to CPU and turning CPU assist on - neither had an effect.

Tried playing arcade mode...whatever non-simulation is called. No difference...still no dunks.

Did you try changing the settings a bit?

No, I can dunk.

I play locked on the point guard. When I do that, none of my guards ever dunk. In fact, they generally just bomb outside shots for about 13% shooting even if I have a guard with FG at 99. If they do drive they try layups which miss about 90% of the time.
