Question about players ratings

I´ve been playing dynasty for a long time and I still have the same question.. what makes the players ratings go up or down? I had a dynasty with the Lakers in my 5th year and Kobe was at 99 and Lamar was at 88.. But I accidently ereased it so I decided to start a new one... I simulated a couple of seasons and Kobe´s rating drop from 95 to 90 ... Lamar´s dropped too but I can´t remember the actual rating.. Is it a random mechanism? or there´s something we can do to make the players rating go up (besides having training sessions with them, which really doesn´t improve them that much)?

But if you dont train them or keep them in shape or have them age, There stats will lower.... Or give them hamburgers!
