Playcalling problem

Can anyone help me out please, i'm having difficulty selecting a play using my gamepad(or even the keyboard). Back in 2004, I can select a play just be pressing simultaneosly 1 button(select) then a number(say 1) to enable play 1(pick n roll). For NL2005, it wont work. It just keep on doing the default play(offense -timeout, defense-intentional foul). Does the game needs an analog stick to enable the plays?

yes...this is a commons problem for the nbalive fans..you just use the digital pad + two stick control pad(it look like a PS 2 game-pad),all the problems will be fixed. 05 version are different with 04 keys setting.
the off/def mode can press the digital pad & the player's motion can use the stick to control.
