how can use the off/def functions in 05 version

Postby ajfans on Thu Dec 09, 2004 6:35 pm

Anyone know how to press the keys to use the offense/defense functions on Game-pad (PC version). I just can use "full-man court & basket cut" only!
I still remember that it have 'isolation/3point/pick&roll/ man to man/half-court/ 2-3 zone" functions in last 2004 live?
Many Thanks

I have the exact same problem. In NBA Live 2004 you simply pushed button 9 ("select") and the pass button to execute a pick and roll. In 2005 this only results in a time out. Must have been some very serious thinking there, to change such a fundamental aspect of the game. Very annoying, since the pick and roll is so effective. Can anyone out there tell me how you execute pick and rolls, cuts, isolations and postups, and also please an explanation as to why they have changed this from the earlier game.

I thought last year and this year was the same?? :?

Well if that's the case, try pressing the directional pad (up,down, left, right).

unuseful? you mean useless...
what do you use to play? keyboard or gamepad? If you use gamepad, just press the d-pad (up, down, left or right) then it should run the play. I don't usually use playcalling to call plays... only for time-out and intentional foul.

i just use a normal 12keys gamepad and i did assign the key in the quickplay tag already (controller setup inside the game options).
For example: Hold on the playcalling + key 1 as pick & roll/ key 2 as postup / key 3 as basket cut / key 4 as 3 point mode for 2004 version.
But if i use this setting in 05 version. it will be called time-out & international foul only.....it maybe my gamepad problem.so what is your gamepad's brand?? & what is the dual pad???

Ohhh... u mean the playcalling button acts as a shift button... Does your gamepad come with a profile software like the one for Logitech's Wingman?

No... Not all, only the selected 4 plays. But for Wingman you can assign any button for almost everything.

Try binding "quickplay 1", "quickplay 2", and so on to the directional pad (up,down, left, right).

If there is no specific controller configs for your gamepad, maybe Live 2005 doesn't support your gamepad anymore... What gamepad are u using?

As I mentioned above, I use GamePad pro and have the exact same problem. I just don't understand why they have changed the basic commands, it totally ruins the game experience.
