game crashes before loading

I have an Emachines T2200. It's only two years old. I have 512 MB of RAM, a 100GB harddrive, and 1.8 Ghz processor. I have Direct X 9.0C. I have a LCD monitor, brand spanking new. I just bought the game, installed it, and when I try to run the game the screen flickers and returns to the desktop. The picture of Melo shows up in the beginning too. I have a S3 Prosavage graphics card.

try updating everything with latest drivers...

Well I went to S3's site and they had three drivers I downloaded the one for my card, so it should be new.

it seems like the game has troubles with S3 chips, as I read in other threads.

I wonder why.

it might be (iam not saying it is but) that the graphics card isnt compatible for the game.

With live 04 i had a pretty new Radon card but it turned out that live 04 wouldnt run with it.

Like i said it might not be tho..

I have a built-in S3 ProSavage DDR too. I've also upgraded to the latest S3 drivers. Unfortunately, it's not supported in NBA Live 2005 anymore. I have upgraded to a DX9 compatible AGP graphics card. I got no problems afterwards.

Built-in S3 symptoms include:

- Can't load the game
- returns to desktop after loading (NBA Live 2004)
- returns to desktop when mods are installed (NBA Live 2004)

Curious 101 did you have to buy anything? Is there ANYTHING that I can download?
