Hi,
I just got the CDs of NBA Live 2005 for my birthday, and I was trying to install the game.
Everything was just fine, and then I got this message:
I also tryed to press "Retry" alots of times, and....nothing!
I have all the requirements.
I even canceled the anti-virus, and the firewall, and it still does not working!
What do I need to do?
Thanks alot,
Mr. Biggy

either your cd is scratch up or its a pirated copy but mainly check for scratch on cd.

IMO, your CD/DVD ROM drive might have a problem reading the CD's. It's either the NBA Live 2005 CD is defective, or the drive cannot read from the CD well.
There are several reasons why this happens. Based on my experiences, my drive is too old that it had difficulty reading through my CD's. Sometimes, my drive doesn't read specific CD's, especially the ones burned at high speeds (more than 40x), and the ones that have low quality. Rarely do these happen to game CD's though, considering that EA released the cd's.

I tryed to install it from my other CD ROM drive (I have a new one...)
there is no alots of scratches, you know, ofcurse I have some, but not big scratches.
BTW, it happend also when I tryed to install Need For Speed Underground 2, wich it's also a game of "EA sports".
And again, thanks alot,
Mr. Biggy

there shouldn't be any scratches on CD you bought, at least not when it's right out of the box. If there are, take it back to the store. When install fails on both cd-rom drives, it's prolly a faulty cd...

yea thats what I would do is to take it back and get a different one if u bought it brand new or try it on a different computer and see if it works then...

alright, well did u test it on another computer? if it doesnt work then it should be the game...if u dont got another computer, i would just go ahead and return the game and get a different copy and then go from there...

Yeah, I agree with paradizecityz & threatlockz. If you have no other PC that you can test the game on, return it to the store and have them install the game in their own PC's. If the installation fails in their PC's, then the CD is defective.
It's hard, but the only way you can know the culprit is to have it tested on another system.
I cannot see a problem from the XP firewall, etc. if you have Administrator priviledges. I think you have Admin priviledges since you were able to initialize the installation of the game. It was just interrupted because of a medium failure - either CD/DVD drive or the CD-rom itself. From the screenshot you provided, it's surely a medium problem.

the error you get is purely pshysical and has to do with the disc itself. Either your cd-rom is damaged, or too old, or your cd is damaged/unreadable. such an error will never show because of software issues.
go and exchange it, or try installing an new cd-drive (maybe other brand), since you said something about nfsu2 having the same problem.

Lol Firewall....
Its the CD. Go get a scratch remover or go exchange the disk with another one at the retail store you bought it from. Or if you dont know and you got it as a present read the support files at the EA Sports website. Theyll help .
It has nothing to do with XP or anything. Its your CD Rom. Maybe the lens is dusty or something or its just outdated itself. And if that is what is wrong and your CD is scratched... Those are two bad combinations.
They dont have to be big for your CD Rom to have difficulty reading it.
