Game Freezing randomly

Tue Nov 23, 2004 8:20 am

I am experiencing random game freezing. I cannot get through an entire game without it freezing on me. I have read all EA's FAQ's and have done everything. I have a nVidia GeForce2 MX/MX 400 video card. It has 64MB RAM, (more than the game spec recommendation). I have downloaded the latest nVidia drivers as per the game readme.txt & am running the 66.93 patch driver from nVidia. I have defragged my pc. I have cleared out my temp drive. I have closed unneccesary processes down while playing. I have tuned down the details on the game to 800x600. Basically I have done everything I can think of / know of but this still keeps happening. I am very frustrated by this. Can anyone please provide me with assistance ASAP. :x

i met the problem when i just started playing the game.

and went to the technical manual in the game CD--i searched it very carefully--found the right solution.

click "START", then "RUN", enter "dxdiag". you'll see DirectX diagnostics interface. Tag "Sound" -- DirectX sound device accelerations-- you'll see it is full acceleration by default. Drag the slipper leftwards.

it works on my system-- AMD Athlon 2000+ / Geforce 3 TI / Creative SB 128 Digital sound card.

i don't know what the hell there are so many incompatibles--sound system, video cards... maybe next time they will add "Buy Sony high-end 19'' LCD monitor or you will not see the scores/backboards" into their instuctions. :? ?

thanks for your reply mate. i am desperate to try anything. unfortunately this didnt work. i have since this gone and bought a new ati radeon 9600 as i was convinced that my card must have been the problem. to my dismay i still have the same problems. mate this is really distressing me now as now i have spent some bucks as well. i have emailed EA with no response yet either. if anyone else has any idea please pass them on. :(

have you tried update your sound system? by installing new driver... or... buying another sound card (since it won't be too expensive , try it )?

the EAs are too busy developing sports games, sim games, strategy games...... so, gave them time!

I normally get a quick response form EA, usually around 24 hrs. Has the game ever worked for you without freezing?

is it just this game??? I believe it is the sound card
when it freezes, does it make any sound or just freezes

I had this problem back then in the 2002 Nba Live one and when mine freezes, speakers making a like "car honking" noise

after that I that, I re-installed Windows XP with the latest version then and it worked perfectly since

what my computer technician told me was that xp is not good at recognizing major change to the system or something like that???
I didn't have any problems but then my motherboard fried so I changed my motherboard and had everything else the same and it started messing up. the computer tech told me that I had to install the newer XP to make everything compatible and XP recognize everything

so did you make any major change in ur system cuz that could be a reason...

yeah i agree it is the sound system. i fixed the problem after i turned down the "acceleration level" in the DirectX sound diagnostics.
