same dunks

Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

Postby ShivaSquad on Tue Nov 30, 2004 1:20 pm

som1 said this b4... and i think its true

if u run up to the hoop, NOT PRESSING turbo, the guy does a better dunk

very realistic... so that if ur on a huge fastbreak, u can afford to jog up to the rim and do a spectacular jawbreaker, while if ur sprinting its harder

u see this in the nba if VC gets a ball wit no1 near him, he jus sits there, walks up, and jams it home

I started a Cleveland Dynasty today, and while LeBron performed the same dunk a couple of times, he also threw down a nice up-and-under reverse coming in from the right wing.

i tried driving along the baseline, and he did dunk up and under. i also tried not pressing turbo on fastbreak it seemed that he performs more variety of dunks now, but still many of two handed. i also found out that tmac is also doing the same two handed jam most of the time, much like lebron. then again, i used kobe to dunk, and he perfoms more variety of dunks than tmac and james. maybe it really has to do with dunk packs, if those still exist. or what about height? wade always performs one handed dunks.

anyways, thanks for the advices

Dunkpacks and preferred dunks certainly govern the variety - highlight reel jams are used much less frequently and only when appropriate. I'm sure most of us are familiar with impossible 360s in traffic in Lives gone by. ;)

And the point is that nobody does a 360 dunk in traffic in the NBA, and since LIVE is a simulation, it's good that u cannot do them in the game.

When will u stop being sarcastic and provocative??

You like arcade games like Live 2003, just play it. We don't spam in that forum making fun of it because it's unrealistic and we don't like it.
Just stop spamming in 2005 forum. Grow up.

As Andrew was saying about dunkpackages, they do determine the variety.

I was looking at the dunkpackages (dunkpack column in players.dbf), they range from 1 to 17 (haven't tried anything over 17, who knows...
dkp - characteristic dunker:
17 - Ming
15 - Shaq
14 - Wallace's
13 - Mutombo, Vin Baker, Mihm
12 - James, Richardson, F. Jones, Bryant, Mason, McGrady, Wallace, Evans, Carter, JR Smith (the fanciest dunkers)
11 - Wade, B. Davis, Francis
10 - Stoudemire, Garnett, Kenyon Martin
9 - Ricky Davis, Ray Allen, Finley
lower then 9 are les adventurous dunkpacks...

I noticed nobody had a 16 dunkpackage, so I changed the dunkpackage for my generated rookie (6'0'') Jalen Pack, he was making some nice dunks!:
- 360 (off one foot)
- an aggresive very nice two footed one-hand-slam, very nice and different from other's I think
- twohandled-cradle (if thats what you call it). You have to run at the ring, well actually sort of aim your running next to the rim, run diagonnaly past the ring and you can dunk with a sort of cradle dunk.

I like to mix up my team so I my team has a good variety of dunkpackages...Jr Smith would be a nice addition of the bench...hmm

oh......my........god.

anyway, some good finds there, ripper. i'd like to see more discussion on this.....i'll be trying out some numbers above 17 to see if they have any effect.

Oh, thanks for reminding us about NBA Live 2003's realistic gamepace and realistic amount of fastbreaks. One game of Live 03 has more fastbreaks than a fucking reese's factory on steroids!

I think Dr J has a 16 for his dunk package, and i'd imagine that MJ would too if he was in the game.

It seems the packages are sorta the same as last year ( in the sense that the same players have the same packages) except there are some new packages i think (not positive on this).

BTW VC should probs be a 16 as well, well the young VC anyway.

It's not the 'best' dunk package. They are in no particular order. Does a shooting style of 1 make a player the best 3 point shooter?

I don't find 360 dunks performed from a stationary start flying through a crowd of people very true to life, but to each their own.

It's not your opinion that is the problem, it's rather the way that you express it.

If you get banned it's because you've posted several times in the wrong section of the forum, which is against the rules. It's not because of your opinions.
