A couple PC game issues I'm having.

Postby MaddenFreak on Sun Nov 28, 2004 3:11 pm

Two weird things going on the first time I played the game. First, every time I charge a defender, I'm called for a technical foul. What in the world is going on there. I can't see anything else possible that going on except that I must be charging.

Also, I constantly have time outs called when I have no clue what I'm doing that is calling them. I'm using the Saitek P880 default settings. I don't even think they list time out on the settings under controller configuration. If somebody can help with these two issues, I'd really appreciate it. Thanks!

for timeouts you hit the playcalling button, you might be hitting that at the wrong time.

Are you saying you have the ball, and whenever you run into a defender and get called for a charge, it's a technical foul? :?

Yep, that seems to be what's happening from what I can tell. It only seems to happen when I'm hitting the turbo button as well.

what i know is that technical fouls only occur in nba live when you call timeouts even if you're already out of them. at least that's what i've experienced so far. i may be wrong.

Are you sure that the button you're pressing for Turbo isn't set to Playcalling? That would explain calling timeouts at random intervals and then the technicals once you've run out of timeouts and try to drive past a player with turbo.

thats something i wish EA could put in, even tho they always refuse to

we need flagrant fouls and technical fouls! im not askin for a 1 on 1 artest-fan brawl... im talkin about jus a coach yellin at a ref and gettin slapped wit the T... or a player hitting another guy down hard, bein called for the flagrant or somethin

I agree with flagrants, so long as injuries and flagrant fouls don't always have to go hand in hand (as they did in the early games in the series). The NBA won't allow EA Sports to implement unsportsmanlike technicals though, so their hands are tied in that department.

Haha, yes I remember in Live '95, running with turbo on at full speed pressing the steal button, and knocking the other player halfway across the court.

I would really like to see some sort of technical foul feature implemented, though it would be severely limited by the NBA's guidelines as to what EA can do, as Andrew said. There has to be SOMETHING they could do that would be interesting, though.

if you haven't configured or reconfigured your controller, do it now.
for some reason the game puts play-calling/time outs on the turbo button. once you go through and assign the buttons and save, it shouldn't happen any more.
