HOW to prevent my teamates to make duuumb fouls ?!???

Sat Nov 27, 2004 5:24 am

aaarg. i'm nearly dying. ...
there are many gameplay grippes i'd like to discuss further, but these 2 are my main ones :
1. i cant find a slider to tweak the frequency of fouls committed by MY teamates.... and they keep on fouling again and again.. even worse as i'm not controlling them at all and I'M ALREADY DEFENDING THE CPU PLAYER !!!....

2. do u also shoot 35% when CPU shoots 50% ???? i take wide open shots, a cpu player despretly tries to jump at me, i miss......
but if I jump right in front of a cpu shooter, i wont even block it and he will score !!!!........
fed up of this.. reassure me plizzz.. ..... :?

I have those problems too. My solutions (partial):

1. go to defensive matchups in the strategy menu and set doubleteam to "No" for all your opponents. This way, when you guard your man, you don' have your teammates coming for a doubleteam and fouling...

2. Damn, I hate this one...sometimes they hit a 3 point with 3 men jumping in front of them!!! How is that realistic?? Anyways, tweak your sliders a little, especially the CPU sliders and decrease medium shot%, long shot%, and poor release%. Maybe it helps a little...

thats the advantage of this years live... more sliders

its great how u can change the % of shots the comp takes, so if u want a realistic midrange game u can adjust... even tho in general the comp does that anyway

last year it was either a 3 or a layup... and IMO this change between '04 and '05 is the biggest, and best one

I use a tweaked version of Pared's sliders and I don't have this problem. Most games I shoot above 50%, and manage to limit the CPU to less than 50. (even less than 40 when the CPU have a bad shooting night! It's in the game eh? :) )

At first, I kept swearing how my teammates kept fouling the opposition when I'm not controlling them. But as I learn to play better, switching quickly in defence, and as my teammates improved ratings (I started with a team fit to tank the season, hehe), this kind of idiocy decreased. In fact, I appreciate it a bit since in 2004, I hardly get into foul trouble. This time around, the fouls and freethrow attempts (on both sides mind you) are quite realistic.

I have mixed feelings about the whole foul issue. When I'm defending the point guard or whoever else is on the court with the ball, my teammates help me out when the players gets passed me, either fouling or stopping the player.

The downside is, they might foul on a forced shot with 2 secs left on the shotclock. That really pisses me off.

It's better than last year though.

agreed that it is better than last year, but i still curse and throw my controller 2 or 3 times a game when the cpu players on my team make a dumb foul. and i don't know how many times a game a player on the other team comes down from a rebound and is "fouled" by me when i didn't even do anything, and sometimes i was facing the other way.

1. good idea, though i'd like them to double-team when necessary... and without making foul !! I wouldn't mind if IIII was making the foul. i'd tell myself i'm just plain bad... but when uncontrolled players foul, i deduce that EA coders are just plain bad.............

2. ok i'll try... buuut being quite humble, i thought that I was the cause of all this. i mean, i've got the game for 2 weeks and i thought that i just suck shooting the ball. ... but as the shoot-release is set by the CPU...
in a way i wanted to give one more chance to EA guys.. thinking THEY knew how to balance THEIR game...........
still a pity some other guys do it better..
soooo, in your opinion, who's sliders are the best ?? (i play 6 min quarters, still at all-star level.. (beginner.. in2005!..))

i always hesitate before tweaking the sliders.. then how do u know if you're good because.. you're good or because u changed the sliders ?..
moreover, isn't it hard to adjust then when u play online or with friends ?? (not the same shoot selection...)

Of course I have used the default sliders first. A couple of days' worth at least. And then tried out Pared's sliders. Another day or two. And then tweaked things as I go along.

Most of those times I actually manage to shoot above 50%, I was force-feeding Yao in the post for high-percentage dunks and layups (though he gets blocked too often, but I'll live with it), or by running the break. And this, too, is not fool proof. I've played Detroit twice in my dynasty, and Yao simply have a hard time backing down the Wallaces. In situations like this, I have to rely on my perimeter shoots, and thats when my FG% plummets, sometimes even below 30%! But I guess that's just me forcing shots on the AI defence with the shotclock running down. :)
