Fast Breaks

Postby sirtoks on Sat Nov 13, 2004 8:35 am

I would like a few more fast breaks in my gameplay, the catch-up is a bit too good, if you all know what I mean. I mean, for a guy like T-Mac to be caught from behind from the 3 point line by a guard like, Jason Kidd, is not likely, plus it slows gameplay down for me. Is there a slider that could fix this for me. It would help me out, and make it for fun for me when I play, thx.

don't know maybe try to increase your freestyle. with these even though the Ai catch up with you, you can getaway by doing some spin or crossover.

That's cheap man!!!!!!!!!! I hated it when you play 2004 online and somebody gets a fast break and they do nothing but freaking crossovers and spins when they are guarded by NOONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! JUST RUN THE DAMN BALL UP THE COURT.

Actually, JKidd is reeeally fast when healthy. But that's beside the point. Catch-up is there, and we have to live with it. That being said, I still can score lots of transition points if I focus while playing D. Sometimes two passes are better than one (i.e. the lob button isn't always best when you get a board on D).

I was thinking, if the off-ball control didn't take forever to engage, you could run some wicked breaks by switching to the wing man. Oh, but the guy with the ball would slow down (just a hint of sarcasm there!). The day EA or VC figures out how to implement a genuine fast break model is the day the other is toast.

Hey guys, I've found more effective to rely on secondary fastbreak, rather than primary.

I mean, run the fastbreak...if CPU catches up..stop and wait for your PF or C to reach the offense and pass them the ball at the FT Line, while they are still running. Usually they will have room for an easy lay-up, as the CPU's defense isn't completly set yet. It's very realistic, trust me!

If you give the ball to your big man on the 2ndary break and they go for a layup they just get blocked from behind

JKidd catching TMac is believable but Yao Ming catching Tony Parker is really stupid. :x

There is NO catchup bug. It's much worse. The entire CPU team runs faster than the player the user controls. Compare your player going up the court to any other CPU player, and you'll see that your sprinting is just as fast as any CPU player jogging, and if the CPU sprints, he's way ahead of you. Can it get any worse? Yes, even if you don't have the ball, the CPU player with the ball is still faster than you.

That's what I noticed. When you are running the break, LOOK at the players chasing you. They are going faster then you, but the thing that stands out is that they are JOGGING!!!!! One thing I also noticed is, when you use intentional foul to stop a break, your players running to foul are also JOGGING!

i think what they have done to the fast breaks are the best yet. In 2004 i got really angry at the amount of times orlando, boston and other teams would score on a fast break, they would score like 30 points a game a you could not stop it. what you said about mcgrady kidd is a lot faster than him and i can understand why the cpu does that, IT SO U CANT SCORE THAT EASY. Wether you play on all-star or superstar it is the same. it is so it is hard.

I really like the fast breaks in the 2k4 version, I also agree that the fast break opportunities were a bit exagerated. For 2k5 they have changed a little bit. Usually the SG and SF would run donw the court waiting for a pass or something, in 2k5 the will not run , the will wait for the pass somewhere in the midcourt, which SUCKS!

Something else that annoys me is the CPU SPEED. The Turbo Button is useless for if you're playing agains the CPU.

Its not exactly a bug, but it affects the game playing.

This sucks man. Last version was full of fast break opportunities during the game.
For 2005 they've added new animations, so the player no longer will turn arround when he is running and receives a pass. The new animation also does not let the player to commith the travel violation.
What sucks is that for several times I have a fastbreak opportunity, like 2 to 1, and my other player either stops at the 3 point line or will stop anyway to receive the pass.
Like in 2004 , they should keep running.

Funk EA NBA LIVE 2005. Too many bugs, I live 2004 better.

We need a Fix patch.
