Are trades harder...or is it just me?

Postby ampersand2001 on Tue Nov 09, 2004 5:41 am

Hey, I've been playing the PC version for about a week now and I'm finding it very hard to pull off any trades. It seems like you need the salary AND the ratings very right on more so than in previous years. I'd say 90% of my trades get a "thanks, but no thanks".....and the good ol 2 for 1 cheat doesn't work anymore for me...

and is anyone else peeved that they took years remaining out of the trade screen?

Yeah that's been discussed. I plan all my trades now from the Manager's Statement screen. A royal PITA, IMO.

what bugs me is that they still dont let you trade for draft picks during the season. this is pissing me off. i will offer the comp the far better of the deal and they say no just cause it involves a draft pick.

I have simmed a Dynasty for fun and tried to pull of some trades. I started a dynasty with the Hornets and before the first game I tried to trade

Darrell Armstrong - 65 overall
David Wesley - 64 overall
Rodney Rogers - 67 overall

for

Marquis Daniels - 60 overall
Devin Harris - 59 overall
Pavel Podkolzin - 46 overall

... Dallas didnt want the trade, although the salaries matched.

Than ... after I simmed a few weeks, I tried the exact same trade. Now, cause Dirk Nowitzki was down with an injury Dallas accepted the trade. Dunno if they'd accept the trade if Dirk wasn't injured ... But it seems you can get the trades you want.

Now I am thinking about who I want for Jamal Mashburn ... since he makes 9.30 Million its hard to get something for him, as I don't want another star, but rather some quality role players.

It really isn't that hard to trade...
I have VC and Ben Gordon in my team in the Heat and I didn't even have to sacrifice Shaq nor Dwayne Wade.
Bored.

I think it would be cheating if it were any easier. It's pretty easy as is!

It is a little harder, but I like that. It's much more realistic this way and doesn't allow you to simply sign a couple of free agents with good ratings and package them in a deal for a star player. The CPU will only accept deals that work for them, or deals that greatly favour them (if you're trying to clear cap space), which isn't much different from (most) real NBA GMs.

harder but not impossible.
Two for one still work ok.
Just need some more trys.
I was able to use my Magic Dynasty and get trades that gives me Yao, Tmac, and Carmelo Anthony for the first three years, and trade the down hill Tmac for Leborn James, and now their ratings are James 99, Anthony 94, Yao 92. Dwight Howard also became a 86 player in about 7 years. Bench players were some pretty good generated rookies from each year.

I just wanted to say that you CAN trade draft picks during the season. I traded Sam Cassel for Devean George and a 2nd round draft pick.

trade is just as easy as last year, especially if you have team which is not over the cap or have the right players. its even easier as your dynasty progresses because rookies from a good class will be available as free agents and since the CPU still doesn't sign free agents right away at the start of the season, you can use these rookies as bargaining chips.

i tried using memphis and i was able to get mourning (FA), hamilton, and peja. the only good players that i lost was bonzi, miller and their stupid C (starts with T). :D

The Manager's Statement gives you a run down of the players you have under contract, the size and length of their contract, the salary cap, the amount of money you're still paying to waived players and your total salaries (including waived players). You can also view the Manager's Statement for other teams to check out their financial situation.

I love the trading this season. No silly points system. Realistic salary handling makes it for one helluva gameplay.

The only thing I dont like this much is the real lack of trades. Players just wont go low enough to get into some good team. Like Payton and Malone in Lakers last season.

It needs improvement, but is a lovely system. Ive actually found myself enjoying interesting trades of regular players (because most players are useful now on the field, shooting and strength isnt most important anymore).

But nice, real nice :)

i don't like the lack of trades- i simmed through an entire dynasty on gamecube, and i think 3 trades went down the entire time (with any team).

also- when players decide NOT to resign with their previous team, if you don't sign them to yours, they just sign with their old team again. i only saw ONCE a player sign with a different team.

I use Memphis Grizzlies in the dynasty mode,
and I traded Shane Battier & D. Jones to Orlando for D. Howard :D :D

I know it's very unrealisitc but I like this trade and most importantly, the cpu accept the trade.

I made a lot of two for one deals and ended up with a starting lineup of:

C - Jamal Magloire
PF - Tim Duncan
SF - Ron Artest
SG - Michael Redd
PG - Baron Davis

Backups: Nene, Stephen Jackson, and a bunch of youngsters with the same names.

So far I've won 6 championships in six years and going for the seventh. My players are getting old, so I'm gonna have to think about making some big deals to keep my dynasty.
