Man, learn to play some D. It isnt last years live where computer didnt and couldnt take advantage of dribbles as players can. Im playing on superstar, with a controller (helps defence quite a lot Id say, been playing on keyboard since 99 and now got a gamepad), with charlotte which has weak PG's, but in my dynesty Ive signed Mourning so Ive got some strong numbers up front. I can handle their forwards well, but have probs with hotshot PG and SG's cause I dont have much of a defencemen there. There are PG's whove killed me, but they are the ones who should do so in real life as well, naming Marbury, Kidd and Nash. With any other typical PG, their PG scores are similar to my own.
You GOT TO learn defence. Computer can use pro hop, strength and dribbles nearly as well as human player, and compared with Live2004, computer FINALLY can take advantage of less-skilled defenders.
And NEVER leave a guard in front of a C or PF during their fastbreak. Ive had my men 9 instances out of 10 been slammed off court bigtime.
D is the key in Live 2005, when offence ruled the game in 04. Learn to play D and youll stop most of the PG's. Its about reaction, and the typical strategy just to continue punching your steal-key doesnt work in Live 2005 anymore.
If you remember, Live 2004 needed mostly double-team to steal the ball, or just play steal-buttoning with your PG in front of the player with the ball. THis doesnt work so anymore, ball needs to be "in position" for the theft to occur, and in regular situations this means usually during receiving a pass or sending it, or when player tries to pumpfake or shoot.
However it needs tweaking as does blocking, down a bit.
But D is the key. Know the D and win the game. Ive finally found use of those non-shooting players in the team. Every player can be used for his skills, and as it was in Live 2004, getting a team of shooters winning title, it isnt so here anymore. PLaying against Detroit, the score came low because of heavy D on both parts, but it was so enjoyable. While against shooting teams scores ran high because of their offence priority.
Live 2005 is a pure realization of Live 2004's potential. It has its problems of course, but it is the best and most realistic basketball simulation to date.
