Salary Cap an issue?

this game is pretty good, to the exception of the salary cap.

i thought in reality, the cap isn't that bad. in the previous game, i could sign players like 5 mil over the cap. this year, i had a 2.43 mil cap space (from that 40.3(?) cap) and i tried to sign karl malone to a 3.5 mil dollar contract. DIDNT WORK.

alright, no worries, i'll just sign someone else. i request some scrub ball player for 2.43 mil. i wait the usual day. BOOM. i can't sign him. "we're sorry, but your over the cap". WTF?!

anyone help me out? i coulda sworn that we could sign a lil bit over the cap. i even tried to sign for a goddamn the full 2.43 to fill up my cap and it didn't even allow me.

You can go over the cap if you offer players the minimum contract.

also note that the minimum changes based on the players age.

actually, i think the minimum is dependant on how many years the player has played in the league, the player's experience

yeah thats what i meant, years in league not age. i guess it matters more now with everyone coming from HS.

Yeah ... i had that problem too. I understand it if I want to go over the cap. But even if you try to sign someone for the exact amount of capspace left, you get a decline and it says "not enough capspace".
