I still love this game

Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

I still love this game

Lets not get ahead of ourselves fellas. This game seems to be getting alot of heat for some bugs. But lets remember how much of an improvement it is over 2004. This is by no means perfect, but i wont be playing another bball game for a while.

I agree with you
It does have many flaws but still great none-the-less

i complained in other threads about this game but thats what i do, its what consumers do. so even though i complained i still feel this is the best live ever. i have alot of fun with this game even with the problems i have spoken of elsewhere.

Honestly if I was on the Live team this year I would not be to proud of the PC version since 2000.

Frankly I feel we drop down $40 for about 1/4 the improvement that could be done. I will not buy Madden next year and Live is teetering on the brink of the same decision.

There is really no excuses for this year after year....We went from Live 2000 to Live 2005 and can you hoestly say there was that great of an improvement? Especially compared to the rest of the gaming world.

It is about time sports games are held as accountable as RPG and MMOG games are.

jr
2013 is the year?
Thanks to Vl@d, Leftos and all the other patchers for their hard work.

Good point. I think there was way too much emphasis on the All Star Weekend, and the developers just overlooked many important features (see gut's missing features post). Personally, I think the gameplay is worse than Live 2004 with the terrible passing animations and incredible number of jumpers getting blocked. It has been more frustrating than fun thus far.

i have said forever that i rather them not put a dunk contest in as i felt it would take away from the rest of the game, and i think i am right. the time spent on that could have been better spent elsewhere. i do like having the rookie game and 3 point contest and the whole all star weekend thing is nice but i would gladly give away the dunk and 3 point shoot out(i would keep rookie game as thats easy to add) and inreturn get a much better basketball game with a ever deeper dynasty.

To quote kobe "you kiddn me?!". NBA live has had some great improvements. Freestyle control has revolutionised team sport games. Madden brought in playmaker to try and keep up with freestyle. The 10 man motion capture is awesome, and the animations for each individual player is the best for any bball title, and it keeps improving year after year. Dynasty got a huge upgrade this year, and the all star weekend is alot of fun when playing against friends. Try playing the 3 point contest for money and you'll see what i mean. Live is a few small adjustments away from being as close to perfect as you can get.

I definitely agree with that part. Look at Elder Scrolls III: Morrowind. Hundreds of times better than the older elder scrolls games.

perhaps EA should make NBA Live every 2 years---but once a year provide an "expansion pack" of sorts to bring rosters, etc, up to date, and spend that extra year actually making a NEW game.

example:

Just released: NBA Live 2005
release in 2006: NBA Live 2006 expansion pack for NBA Live 2005
release in 2007: NBA Live 2007

etc, etc. just an idea---though I would much prefer they just do the work in a year...but if it means getting a better game, i'd wait an extra 12 months.

I do like that idea, but that could really affect EA's sales. I mean, comparing NHL 2004 to NHL 2005, the game improved a lot in that one year. I just think the Live team spent too much time with All Star Weekend because they added a LOT to this year's version, but they seriously overlooked a lot of the gameplay's aspects.

What exactly do you think was overlooked in the gameplay department?

Yes, before I was thinking "ok they fixed pro hop, new rebounding thing, and that was pretty much it". But there are a lot of small things that are new to the gameplay which I really like. I think they did a pretty good job in at least ironing out the exploits that people like to do a lot, because basically, the game will go on because people will play other people. The computer will be boring eventually (especially with this dynamic offense..).

Yeah I agree, the game does have its flaws but it has improved so many things. Which is why I've been playing it for countless hours :D
Very dissapointed in EA for taking out the savs stats feature, which has put the online league that I'm in http://alo.zoltrix.net:2004 in jeopardy.
