Injuries

Sun Oct 24, 2004 11:37 pm

I was playing the Bobcats with Kevin Garnett when he got injured in a game and was said to be out for 7 days, it was a leg injury. So i played on then after 7 days i received another message that the injury was more severe that the doctors thought so he's going to miss 5 more days. I think that was very realistic.

Then i had him come back but he got injured again 3 more times during the course of 16 games. One interesting injury happened not during a game because i play all the games and i know he didn't get injured, but when i sim to my next game the doctors said that he suffered a broken nose, so i'm thinking that could have only happened during practice! That was pretty cool.

Have you guys encountered any other kind of injuries? I had Shaq out for 13 days because of a strained calf muscle!

i like the new injury part (Y) (Y) (Y) (Y)

this is off topic but when i play a game and i injure 1 of the opposite players on hte other team that is the most rewarding thing. especialy when its a star player that you just put out for a couple of days.

on topic: i played 1 season an dhavent gotten any serious injuries yet to my rockets team.

you're playing dynasty mode here right?

Mon Oct 25, 2004 3:17 am

wow they finally spiced up the whole injury thing then, whats the longest time a player can be out for?

Mon Oct 25, 2004 11:26 pm

Yeah, i'm playing dynasty mode. The longest my player was out for a continuous period was 17 days, that was the one where garnett was out for 12 days then another 5 after that.

The longest one time injury i encountered was 13 days for shaq. Wang Zhizhi actually played very well on his absence. He averaged a double double for my Miami dynasty.

I'm playing 2 Dynasty's. I'm playing the Bobcats and Miami. I drafted for my Bobcats team and i'm using the default Miami team. I'm going to start a Houston Dynasty soon. :D

I found out that if you have a player that is injured but is still able to play, he will be able to recover faster if you don't use him in games until he has fully recovered. If you use him in games then the recovery time is longer.

An injured player will start a game with about half his stamina, what you can do is let him come off the bench so you don't have to substitute him after a minute of playing. After they fully regenerate their stamina, they actually play normally. Or maybe some of their ratings go down because that's what the doc say on the PDA, i haven't checked.

In NBA LIVE 2004, I never had a player injured more than 3 quarters ( the rest of the game maximum ). He was never out for more, like 7 games, or 3 or 1....!
It's only when you sim a game that you have the "chance" to see a realistic injury.

Is it the same in 2005 ? did you sim the games to get all these injured players ? Not that I want to have a wounded team but just a little bit real life like.

Or did those injuries happen during a game. Like a player going for a lay up got injured, with the sequence when you see your player or the cpu player holding his arm or leg.

Are those cut scenes still here ?
And did you see a several games injury occurs then ?

Cut-scenes are not in dynasty mode anymore, and there arent too many cut-scenes in the game

The most cutscenes i have ever seen in one game was when i played 01'
There were so many cut scenes i think, and they took awhile to load sometimes :?

I play all the games. There are cutscenes and it is the way you described it. There's this new one wherein the player gets a leg injury, he will try to walk to the bench but will be unable to, he will then wave to a teammate to help him walk to the bench.

I did have several game injuries where my player miss some games. Although Ben Wallace got injured twice and was out for the game, but he didn't even get the injury sige beside his name after the game, all of my players that got injured has it. I guess it depends on the strenght and conditioning of the player.

The injury part of this year's live is much more relaistic.

Hey wormy, i'm playing on PS2, and the cutscenes are still there.
My Bobcats are now 26-2 and my Heat is 16-6. Long way to go to finish the Dynasties. :D

I play abt 4 games a day on 7 minute quarters =).

Thanks for answering.

By the way, can you take a look at my post if you don't mind : "give me your point of view", that'll make me wait too.

And if you don't have the time, please tell me we have the chance to score from downtown this year !!!

What did i miss from your questions? IMO, if EA stopped producing NBA Live next year, i could live with Live 2005 for a long time, it's that good. My only gripe is you cannot save the zoom level for the camera options, so you have to set it up before you start every single game!!!

It's easier to shoot from downtown this year mainly because your opponent doesn't have super speed anymore, you can make open 3's most of the time with good 3pt shooters. I still do get blocked sometimes but that's because i shoot in front of a tall opponent. :D

I am playing in Dynasty mode, i'm playing 2 separate dynasties

Wed Oct 27, 2004 7:53 am

I meant, from half court, or even further, when I say "from downtown".

Is it possible to make a 3 from that distance ?

Last year it was impossible, air ball all the time !
Has it changed ?

I understand "downtown" as behind the 3-point line. I've seen the computer make a shot beyond the half court line but i haven't really thrown any 3's from there, i'm trying to keep my 3pt percentage on check :D
