5 players on console?

I play nba live on a weekly basis with friends at uni. We play together on the same team (seasons and stuff). There are 5 of us (sometimes more) and I have a gamecube with 4 controllers so sometimes we have to sit out quaters and rotate and shit. We're fine with that and its mad fun but having all 5 of us on court at the same time would be heaven. So here's my question:

Is it possible to have 5 players playing at the same time on the ps2 version with the multitap? I have a ps2 and 3 controllers (2 from the old PSone) no multitap yet. I can't seem to get solid info on this because the number of players is listed differently all over the place (with 2005 as well as its predecessors). Can ne1 confirm either way what the go is?

I've currently got the gc version pre-ordered (love my gcube and 3 wavebirds) but if I can realise my 5 player dreams on ps2 then that will be the go for me..
