NBA Live Models vs NBA Street Models

Mon Sep 20, 2004 6:51 am

I don't know if it's just me, but for the past couple years, ever since the NBA Street series came out, I have always thought that the player models of in NBA Street were far superior to NBA Live's. I'm bringing up this topic because I was blown away by some screenshots that I saw on 1up.com of NBA Street Vol 3. Both games are by EA, but are made by different teams (of course). I just want to know why the team that makes NBA Live don't put as much detail into their player models. I know that NBA Street can put more into it because they have a lot less to deal with, but I just think that the NBA Live models can be done a lot better. This year EA has upped the graphics od 2005, but hopefully, this is only the beginning. I even think that the graphics in NBA Street are far better than ESPN 2K5. Now ESPN's graphis are great, but to me, they seem a little too shiney (it needs to be toned down just a bit). Really, the main thing that matters is the gameplay, but if I could have superb gameplay with outstanding graphics, it would do me great joy. Let me know what you think.

naw, they cant touch nba live, nba street looks like a bunch of cut outs

I agree that the previous NBA Street models looked cartoonish, and that's the look that were going with, but they are moving in a different direction, as far as the realistic looking bodies and faces. If you think that the new NBA Street models look like some cut outs, I respect your opinion, but I'll have to disagree.

the season they are more detailed is that they only worry about say the top 50 or so players, rather than make all 500-ish players and free agents in the league like LIVE does.

I completely understand that NBA Live has a whole lot more to handle as far as the 500+ NBA players, but I just want my the presentation and graphics to match the unmatched gameplay. NBA Live is taking steps in the right direction and I will always pick it over ESPN BAsketball any day.

The player models are a lot better but the gameplay is totally different. So I wouldn't buy NBA Street because it has better player models, but I would buy NBA Live because it simulates the NBA unlike NBA Street. But I have to be honest, those are some really good models.

street has 6 and live has 10 models at one time. street might be pretty but it doesn't have all the meat and potatoes live has. besides theres live 2007 to look forward too.

NBA Street looks better if you ask me, i don't care how many players are on the screen at a time. Forget buying VC, they need to led NuFx do the graphics (they used to make Live for 99-2000, i belive, and they work on Street with EA Big).

they could easily make the player models better for nba live if people really wanted them too. first they would need to remove they crowd and just us ea blank background. second they need to take away the bench, the ref, and the coach. and third they need to make the court smaller, infact makeing it 4 on 4 or 3 on 3 would help also. you see the point is, there is alot more going on in a 5 on 5 game than there is in a nba street game. they are proveing that this year with the dunk contest and 3 point shoot out.
