Console Vs. PC (Inspired By A Closed-Minded Dude)

Hi NLSC, after reading quite a few posts as well as "talking" to alot of members here it seems as if there are 2 types of NBA Live fans. Console and PC.

For PC guys, there's no other choice imaginable. Who wouldn't want the option of having better graphics and patches galore made by our resident experts who devote their time and efforts to make the game better?

The question is seemingly a no-brainer to a PC guy who can't fathom why any self-respecting "Liver" would choose the console version over that of the PC.

For console guys, they'll admit that he graphics are better and concede that patches do in fact increase the replay value but just don't like gaming on their PC. They prefer the "feel" of a console and the accoutrements that go with it.

Who's right? Who's wrong? No one is wrong, we're just different people with different tastes where gaming is concerned. Let's please stop putting each others likes and dislikes down and acting like our way is the only way and everyone else is either dumb or inferior.

As a console gamer myself, I respect the fact that a cat chooses to game on his PC and don't see this as any detriment to meaningful, constructive conversation between us where NBA Live is concerned.

We all have basically the same complaints and wishes for our beloved game despite the differences is hardware. Let's not be close-minded like certain individuals on this board who can't fathom anyone not agreeing with him. Whether we choose a PC, XBox, PS2 or Gamecube should not be the issue, the issue is that we're all members of the NLSC because we love playing Live, no matter how we go about doing that.

Now, here's to hoping that we learn some tolerance and respect for each other's differences! Peace, Dre.

Me personally though, I have Live for PC and XBOX so you won't see any arguing from me.

I bought it for XBOX at release to play with my friends and all that stuff, then when the price dropped for the PC one like a month ago to $10 I bought that for my dynasty ...that and the patches.

I've got an antique PC (550 mhz) and cant afford yet those new shiny P4s yet so console at the moment for me

I've been buying NBA Live for the PC and the PS2 the last couple of years. My main NBA Live 2004 Dynasty was on the PS2 as that version was released here in Australia first, while I mainly used the PC version to make roster patches and play exhibition games.

Though I prefer the PC version for the level of customisation, I certainly don't consider the PS2 version vastly inferior. The gameplay is just the same - apart from a few superficial differences it is still the same game. Though patching and customisation tilts my preference slightly in favour of the PC, I enjoy Live on both platforms.

PC and PS2, AND I also have 2K4 for PS2. Just recently got it for PC and like it best.

I really like the fact of making each button on my gamepad customized, and with 12 freaking buttons, the configurations are almost unlimited. I've been patching as much as I can the last month or so and I really missed them from when I went to the 2K series.

My only complaints right now is little gameplay tweaks the same ones as on the console, the faces (although patching handles that) and the framerate doesn't quite get to 60fps with max detail settings so I have to turn down a bit. It's not my PC because it tackles Doom 3 with ease. (1280x1078 2xAA 8xFA@High Quality) framerates are perfect w/my brand new 6800GT, which recently replaced my 9800Pro. BTW anyone wanna buy a 9800pro??? Anyway I think it's EAs programming.

i actually played live on a console(sony) up until i bought nba live 2004 for the second time(3 monthes ago). i first got 2004 for the ps2 as up til recently i have always bought raceing and sports games on consoles. it was not until a found a pc controller that was imo as good as the ps2 controller did i finally switch. i always liked the pc better but i settled for console simply cause of the controller.

i got xbox and pc version but the graphics on my computer dont compare to the xbox. is there a certain setting i should set things on to make it better? i have decent computer. 2.66ghz, P4, 20 gig harddrive and and 400+ video card built in(im not sure exactly wat it is but too much either way) y do the graphics look choppy- not smooth

Graphics card is really important in PC gaming. Like, the most important thing. You really want a direct x level 9 card to get the most out of the latest games. I am upgrading coz my older card doesn't play new games well at all.........

Built-in graphics are the problem, almost certainly. A separate video card is what you really need.

BTW, Dre, nice job. As an innocent poster of a "which should I get" thread, I'm glad to see some even-handedness.

To enjoy Live on PC you'll probably need to add either a nVidia chipset card or an ATI chipset video card, and at least 512 RAM in your PC. I personally would go for a gig of ram. Also makes sure those cards are directx9 compatibale. As far as cards go though, generally, the newer the better, but that's not always true. There are a lot of them out there so no one can really suggest which one you want, depends on how much you want to spend vs performance.
