Oh and a 5-10 year old like you would have been really knows what makes a good game. Hell even when I was 12 I thought Live 2001 was a killer game, I realize all it's flaws compared to 2000 now. But I was oblivious then.

You are an unbelieveably weak at argueing (sp?) a point. Eddie Curry sucks, early basketball games suck. Care to give a reason.

Here:

I downloaded Tv Sports Basketball but it doesn't run very good. I guess because Windows XP has problems with DOS programs and most of these games are DOS.

There is a FAQ section in the website where it tells you to download a couple of application to help XP support DOS games...but It seems too complicated for me...I don't want to mess up something.

If any of you is very computer savvy....would you give me some recommendations?

Basketball games certainly have come along way. Our attitudes certainly have changed. As the graphics have improved and become increasingly more lifelike with real faces and jersey textures and whatnot we've also come to expect realistic gameplay.

I remember when I first started playing NBA Live 95, I didn't care too much about realistic scores or stats in a video game - it was more about taking control of your favourite team and playing an action-packed basketball sim that had realistic elements but still wasn't all that true to life (Shaq performing 540 degree dunks, for example).

Realism has definitely become an important part of video gaming. Consider all the realistic first person shooting games. They make games like the first two Dooms seem very arcade-like and cartoonish, albeit an ultraviolent one. There are still games like Doom out there (including the latest in the Doom series) but they are darker and more bloody. Violent as the original Dooms were, they just aren't as gory as their modern equivalents.

With basketball sims, simply playing a basketball simulation with real player's names in the game and being able to pull off fancy moves isn't enough. These days we want gameplay that feels like we're watching a real NBA game, lifelike players and all kinds of GM tasks. We're no longer satisfied with simply playing through an 82 game season and the playoffs. We want to take control of a team for a number of years, drafting players and worrying about free agents.

And the games seem to have evolved with our expectations. There's always nitpicks and pet peeves and features we don't always agree with or feel could be better, but basketball games certainly have come a long way.

MikeBibby is shit... He can't shoot and he can't even write anything that merely resembles a thinking human being...

Trip down memory lane is always sweet... I remember playing Live 95 with a friend of mine with 12 minute quarters and major all-star teams and just blasting away... The game was something like 320-320 after the regular game time and went to overtime. Talk about realism. We played the game for something like 2 hours in total. Just a single game. It was great.

I just couldn't miss from the three point line with Larry Johnson.

Shaq was just unstoppable in that game.

We have certainly come a long way since those days.

I've never played the vs. games, but tv sports basketball was a killer on amiga... That was sweet.

If you have never played them games, you have no right to critisize them. And if you love basket ball, you'd love each and every game made about it too. I even remember Street Sports basketball on commodore 64. It was sweet too. Man this brings back a lot of memories.

I have an SNES Emulator...and I played Live 96....That game is just  I could sit and bob my head to the music for hours.

It was Hornets vs. Bulls and Jordan was the greatest.

Yeah, I remember the pain I used to feel when my virtual Jordan would hit his head on the rim. I can actually remember telling a friend in school about it and saying that the three point contest had the best graphics I'd ever seen. Bird looked so life-like at that time...........

The graphics were so good (for the time). The 1 on 1 mode is was great too.

I remember how high MJ got. His head was past the rim!!!!!!!!
