I thought about an idea to replace pro hop.

I thought of this some time ago, then forgot, and now I remember again, and I just wanted to know what you guys thought of it. It's a technique that would replace the jump stop. To be honest, I don't really see very many jumpstops when I watch NBA games, but I do see alot of this. I can't think of any name for it other then "striding". It's basically when someone holds the ball tight with two hands and takes two long steps on their way to the basket. It would be easy to do it in game. When your driving to the basket, you hold the button, and the ball handler clutches the ball with both hands and begins taking steps. The longer you hold it, the farther you go. If you hold it too long, you can get called for traveling. When you let go, your guy jumps into the air, and from there you can push layup to try a layup (if your close enough) or try to shoot an off balance jumper using the traditional way of shooting. The reason to use this would be to get inside without getting bumped back, but the disadvantages are:

1. Can get called for charging
2. Defenders nearby can strip the ball.

So what do you guys think of this idea?

I think it is a good idea. The biggest downside though would be the shot after the steps, because what happens if you accidently push the button at half court? And are you able to pass out of it because you can pass out of a stride...

Oh yeah thats right you could stride right at the hoop and feed it to the awaiting big man.

I like the idea, but I'd still like to be able to execute a jump stop as well.

lol I emailed this exact same idea to EA where youd press the button to do it, and out of the stride you could make a in the air pass, shoot a runner, or just go in for the layup, so I like it too.

I like the idea! It would make the game more realistic and give us the ability to take more control But EA please don't make it too powerful~~
