Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

No way are the IGN pics in-game.

I'm sure this has already been brought up, but I'd really like to see some discussion on it. The images in the IGN article about Live 2005 are amazing, and I find it almost impossible to believe that they were taken in game. What is the point of showing us hi-res pics of players that will never make the game.... Just a way for EA to get us talkin' about their game. But... is there anyway that those could somehow be atleast CLOSE to what the game will look like?

silky smooth vlade, heh heh heh.

The shots are most likely not from the game as they are one-on-one and are very, very pretty (especially B. Diddy.) They are pre-rendered shots. I still think Live 05's graphics will be very good since they have made the graphics of a higher resolution. Even so the pre-rendered pics last year looked a lot worse than this years lot.

Those screens probably aren't from the game, but as Colin noted this year's early screens look much better than last year's early screens, so it's probably fairly safe to assume that the finished product should have superior graphics to NBA Live 2004.

E3 2004: NBA Live 2005 Hands-on
Could be the most improved sports game of the show.

E3 2004: NBA Live 2005 Screens
Yes, these are real.

now that I think about they're probably xbox screens on a HD TV or something.

Or PC screens at a high resolution.

I don't think they are real. Remember last year? They showed screens of 1-on-1 Yao vs T-Mac, they were awesome screens but they weren't real.

They are renderings.
I compared the diferent ones (Bron vs Vince and KG vs Vince, among others) in photoshop.
They are not identical, but close. But the only thing that varies is the players pose is often slighty diferent.
But the court is always the same, witch leads to belive that the court is always there and the players are pasted on there.
The players movements are the same in the screenshots except for small adjustments. Like the fingers is slighty diferent for excample.
Now if EA could take screenshots of two players in the same (almost anyway) position that they tood a few days ago, they'd be rather skilled...

Yes, these are real.
They are probeblly saying that there are real pictures. And not any fake ones. Or sneak-previews. Just that they aren't shitting anyone I guess...

And yea, they are most likely like last years Yao vs. T-Mac screens.

I played the game at E3 and the graphics were not THAT good. During gameplay the players didn't look real smooth (not the motion, but like the player's outline). They needed a little smoothness to them. When the game was in replay though, the graphics were NICE. I took some pics of the Screen when I was playing (I think just the replays). When I get the film developed, I'll scan em. (Probably early next week).

I hope they are ingame graphics...

Are you serious, you actually played the game?

Sat May 15, 2004 12:16 pm

Yeah, very early version. I was surprised they had it. Kinda buggy, at times the screen would go all black and you couldn't do anything. Just had to wait till it went away. I found that by pausing and going to the setting and changing the camera to something else then putting it back to baseline low, it fixed the problem. I say I played the game for about an hour. There were only 4 teams available. The Lakers, Raptors, Hornets and Cavs.

How do you have the connections to do this? Because if you do have connections I want to be your friend! :D

The bad outline you described is caused by a lack of antialiasing...hardware issue.

How was the gameplay?

Sweet, look forward to them. Thanks Drodri. :)

didn't Dahl got an invitation to E3 too?? but he didn't go

Sat May 15, 2004 3:28 pm

Yeah, as part of the GameSpy network we were invited, but it's not all expenses paid. I would have loved to go to E3, but I don't have the money for the flight or the accommodation.

Sun May 16, 2004 3:54 am

you also have to be 18 or older ;)

You should take donations like on .org. "Send Andrew to E3 and get the low-down on NBA Live!"

Yeah I would have been more prepared and thought of things to look for if I would have known I was going beforehand. I have a friend who works at a Gamestop and they got passes to go to E3. I talked to him on Wednesday and he said he would see if he could get an extra pass and he'd let me know before Friday. So it was Friday morning and I was getting ready for school and I get a phone call from him. He tells me someone that was going with him wasn't gonna make it and he had an extra pass so I drove to Downtown LA. It was a matter of luck. Luckily of all the games I played, Live was the one I played for the longest. I played it for about an hour (maybe more, don't remember, just that my legs and feet were killing me from standing in the same spot). I'll write something about my impressions probably later today and when I get the pictures developed, I'll scan em. They aren't much, I don't remember if I got any in-game pics because like I said before, the graphics weren't much to look at. I did get some of dunks during the "Action Replays" (I was kidding around with the guy I played that I was literally posterizing him lol) and some of Kobe in which I zoomed in in Instant Replay (the one you access from the menu, opposed to the Automatic ones after a play, "Action Replays")

I couldn't ask anyone for that kind of money. That said, if someone desperately felt the urge to send me thousands of dollars, no strings attached, who am I to turn them down?

The graphics were the same because those were actually last years graphics, or at least thats what everyone was telling me there. Also they didn't finish doing there graphics engine yet thats why there are no vids. lately and the screenshots are all the same.
