Roster update till July 14 2009

http://www.2shared.com/file/6708170/de0 ... ly_14.html

Well, I'm kinda newbie regarding nba live updating. So forgive me if I missed something.
Salaries and rosters are accurate + some player rating modifications.
I made only 6 new rookies...sorry, they are Griffin, Thabeet, Harden, Evans, Flynn and Curry.
Player ages and years of experience are also updated!

First, install Andrew's roster patch for nba live 2005 http://download.nba-live.com/index.php?act=view&id=1850 then put my folder into My Documents\NBA LIVE 2005\saves folder.

Load saved game, and then if you choose to play in Dynasty Mode, it would be nice to update new NBA salary cap. Do this: save your dynasty mode right away, exit game, open that saved dynasty folder, find franchise.dat to edit with http://www.ultraedit.com (download trial), find hex value '40 AB' and overwrite with '64 E1' save your changes and there you go, you have new official NBA salary cap for the new 09/10 season ($57.7 I think). Now just load that saved dynasty mode and enjoy your playing! (credit goes to whoever made initial tutorial for this)

sites I used for salaries and rosters were mainly hoopshype, nba.com, yahoo sports...

Big part of credit goes to Andrew of course for rosters :)

P.S. Many of free agents have wrong height and weight values displayed when playing dynasty mode. I don't know how to fix this. Initial database was correct. Must be a bug. But it doesn't affect players ratings.

I'll try to make another one, also with more rookies and new portraits.

Thanks, good job (Y) but I hope you asked Andrew for permission first, before adding players to his roster (Y)

So I recommend you to PM Andrew quickly, and ask for permission. Otherwise this topic may be locked by him.

Remember one rule in here - if you want to edit a patch or something made by someone else, or you want to take someone's work as a base, you need to get a permission from the original author.

I'm sorry, but this sounds so strange to me... We are all part of communtity here, we want to make live franchise here better for each other, besides I pointed out that biggest credit goes to Andrew and linked his patch.

Internet is more and more going towards some sick capitalism mentality and getting away from it's real values like sharing, getting people closer, etc.

I understand your good intentions, I'm not trying to be rude, but I am a user of this forum from certain time, and I know how it works in here, how it looks like, and how it goes. You gave credits to Andrew - very good (Y) Perhaps it will be sufficient for Andrew :)

As for the rules - we all have to obey them. In norml life, at work, and in internet too :D Otherwise only anarchy would reign

Hrvoje19, just PM andrew and ask nicely, if you pull the "we are all a community, what's the big deal card?" we will shut you down.

just a nice PM and all is taken care of

understand that while it may have taken you hours to do your update, it took andrew weeks to do the roster update and then extra time to convert it to 2005 and the other versions. Because of the huge amount of time and effort i used to, he does, and other people put into these updates and mods, we enforce the common courtesy of asking for permission before releasing a modification of someone's work.

actually, I took me a week to update his roster. ok, if that is the rule, i will PM him.

btw, do yall ask EA's permission to change the game? serenity now, insanity later.

yes we did get EA's permission, that is why there is a customart feature in 2003 and 2004 and the doitall amazingness of the sgsm folder for 2005+

oh, and andrew clears out the dbf files and rebuilds them, so there is nothing left over from EA's DBF files by the time he is done with them

A little interesting detail - people who created NLSC community work or worked in EA SPORTS company. Here's more info: http://www.nba-live.com/index.php?go=aboutus

As I said in the PM, I'm sorry but no; if I were discontinuing the updates I would be glad to hand them over to someone but as I'll still be updating the rosters myself I would prefer not to at this time. I do appreciate that gave me credit in your first post, but as others have said, you really should've asked me first.

I see this is causing you some confusion, so I'll try to clear it up. We are a community and we do share resources, but when it comes to re-using/altering and re-releasing someone's work there's kind of code of ethics. It's certainly not a legal thing, but it's our concept of courtesy and fair play around these parts. It's the same for anyone; I cannot in good faith include any face or jersey patches with the rosters that I haven't been given permission to use.

The reason we get so edgy about it is, as JaoSming said, because we put a lot of time into the updates. I appreciate that it took you a week to update the rosters, but with the time it took me to create the original rosters for 08, convert them for use with 2005 and iron out little things like incorrect dunk packages (thanks again to Marek for helping out with beta testing, by the way :)) and then continuing to maintain the updates, I've spent considerably a lot more time on them. As such, I'm a little picky and hesitant when it comes to giving permission for people to take them as a base for their updates. I don't mind if data is borrowed and I'm flattered if people think I've got it right when it comes to rookie ratings and the like, but there's a lot of leg work in creating players, updating ratings and so forth.

Anyway, I hope this clears up the situation for you. It's certainly nothing personal and it's not us trying to be elitist or anything like that, it's just our concept of courtesy. Unfortunately we've had too many people flat out steal patches in the past and refuse to give credit for all the work that they didn't do, so we are even more wary than we used to be. So while I decline your request at this time, I do certainly appreciate you giving me credit. If you have any further questions, please feel free to ask. This article might also clear up a few things about our patching etiquette and culture as well.
