Three Point Shootout Question

Tue Jun 03, 2008 5:27 am

On my Dynasty season with the Spurs I had Manu Ginobili make the All-Star Three Point Shootout. I tried practicing some before the event but no matter which of the four shoot buttons I hit on keyboard I can't seem to hit anything, while if the computer does it they make nearly all of them. Anyway I let the computer play him, and lost on a tiebreaker to make the final two. Ah well, but I was wondering if anyone knows if your supposed to hit the grab/shoot really fast or what you do to improve accuracy on it.

When I was practicing I would shoot with someone and miss most of the shots (maybe hit 10 points at best) and then switch players and let the comp shoot with the same guy and they'd hit like 20ish.

On another note the dunk contest is pretty hard on the keyboard. Timing everything perfect and all :D.

You have to hold the key a little bit, when you´re shooting. I, myself also haven´t able to do anything special with the keyboard in the dunk contest

It's all about the timing of your release. It doesn't hurt to take a moment before putting up a shot once you grab the ball off the rack. Just don't take too long or the clock will run out on you.

I can't imagine the dunk contest would be much fun with the keyboard.

Ah well, I'll have to work on the timing again if I get another guy into the three point shooting contest.

The dunk contest is pretty hard on keyboard... I've managed to throw down most of them but the passing to yourself ones still never seem to come out quite right and a lot of time something gets hit too late or too early or held too long. I might need to dig up a joystick sometime.

I haven´t been able to do alley-oops by keyboard, is it possible? Also you can always try to practice not in the dynasty, just practice out of the dynasty

Yea that's how I was practicing. Apparently it is possible to do alley-oops on the keyboard. Someone explained in it that super long thread on dunking and types of dunks (for keyboard) he only couldn't do 360's and 720's. here is what he posted.. .I still can't make sense of some of the combinations to get them to work though.

Then again I only recently discovered how to intentionally foul on PC....quite a relief to figure that out :D. Wish they had it documented in the manual...oh well.

Alleys

Numpad 1 - Toss off the backboard
Numpad 0 - Freethrow style alley
1- Quick play button
2- Quick play button
3- Quick play button
4 -Quick play button

numpad1+numpad0 - behind the back toss
numpad0+numpad1 - backwards toss
1+numpad1 - alley off the wall
1+numpad0 - freethrow style alley off the wall
up+H+U - frontflip (without ball)
hold numpad0 - off elbow alley
hold numpad1 - 2 hands toss
hold 1+numpad1+numpad0 - behind the back toss off the wall
hold 1+numpad0+numpad1 - backwards toss off wall
hold 1+hold numpad1 - 2 hand toss off the wall
hold 1+hold numpad0 - off elbow off the wall

Funny i didn't find any use for the 2 3 or 4 quickplay buttons..

Clutch tricks/ 2 foot 180 gather - Y
Pump tricks/ 2 foot gather- U
Windmill tricks/ 1 foot 180 gather - O
Tomahawk trciks/ 1 foot gather - I
Dunk modifiers - left shift & H

start dunk from corner of 3 pointer to perform a reverse dunk

reverse dunks - pump trick, under legs etc

Im still trying to figure out all the dunks that can be done on reverse, all you need is the right place to start off and you'll make it, you can use the line on the baseline for guidance, it's great help.

Y+Y - 180 under leg
I+H+o - honey dip (Vince Carters)
I+H+I - 1 Arm extension
I+H+U - around the back
I+H+Y or U+H+Y - Under leg
U+H+O - Elevation high Windmill
U+H+I - Cover eyes (Dee browns)
U+H+U - Twice Under Legs
hold left shift+I+U - Rock the cradle
hold left shift+I+I - Rock The Baby
Y+U or O+O - 180
Y+I - legs in the air 180
Y+O - 2hand 180
U+Y or I+I - Tomahawk
U+U - sideways dunk
U+I - Slam dunk
U+O - Windmill
I+O - 2 hand Pumpfake
hold left shift + y + Up-Left-Down-Right + o - 360
hold left shift + y + Up-Left-Down-Right + y - 360 under legs
hold left shift + y + Up-Left-Down-Right + U - "Airborne" 360
hold left shift + y + Up-Left-Down-Right + I - 360 arm extension (hammer)
hold h+y+ Up-Right-Down-Left + o - 360 One Hand Windmill
hold h+y+ Up-Right-Down-Left + y - 360 Between The Legs With Left Hand
hold h+y+ Up-Right-Down-Left + u - 360 Corkscrew
hold h+y+ Up-Right-Down-Left + I - slam 360
O+up+right+down+left+I - statue of liberty
O+up+right+down+left+Y - 360 under legs
O+up+right+down+left+O - 2 hand 360
O+up+right+down+left+U - 360 clockwise

720 dunks, I think, would be extremely difficult with keyboard, unless you have lightning fast fingers.
... you could give it a try though, you hold a dunk modifier (the same one as for the MJ rock the baby dunk) and press 1 foot 180 gather, just after you gather, quicky 360 the left analog stick twice, then press pump tricks. If you are not fast enough, you end up with a 360 dunk.

dweaver99027.. you can perform toss dunks on the keyboard... all you have to do is locate your nba live 2005 folder in your documents.. then go to configs and open keyboard 1 with notepad or sumthing.. and type this in

bind K_Z RYAXISCHANGE (note that Z is the alley oop button ..change to wateva u want)
bind K_V RXAXISCHANGE (note that V is the other alley oop button ..change to wateva u want)

I haven't tried the manual edit suggested above but I'm sure it would work too. I think maybe the numpad stuff didn't work because I didn't have numlocks enabled or something.
