Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

I'm starting a dynasty (first month complete) and would like to trade first-round draft picks with a team that is in the bottom 7 in the league so I can get a better draft pick at the end of the season (my team is doing well so far).
However, every time I try to swap draft picks, the CPU says it's not interested in trading draft picks at this time. I've also tried throwing in Chris Duhon to a team that has a roster spot available (so my first-round pick + Duhon for some other team's first-rounder)...still not interested. And I've also tried trading Chris Duhon (rating 55) and my first-round pick for Pape Sow (rating 47) and their first-round pick...but no go.
So my questions:
1) Has anyone done a trade involving draft picks?
2) What's unreasonable about my trade offers?
3) What does the "Interest" bar mean? Is that the general interest from other NBA teams in that player? So the higher the green bar, the less likely I'm going to get the player b/c I have to compete with other teams for him? Or is it the opposite....does "interest" mean how interested the player's team is in trading away that player?...meaning the higher the green bar, the more willing that team is to give up that player?
Thanks

1) Nope
2) Nothing, it's just the computer...they just don't want draft picks, no exceptions, that's my guess
3)If the higher the green bar on your player, that means the specified team wants that particular player a lot, and will be willing to give up more to obtain that player. If the green bar is on a player on the computer team, that means the computer thinks that you should try to get that player, or someone at that player's position, at least I think...

Yes, I have, numerous times.
2) What's unreasonable about my trade offers?
Well, think about it... Would the Golden state Warriors give up their no 9 pick for Chris Duhon and Chicago's no 20-something pick? I don't think so... In real life first rounders, especially current season lottery ones are not easily traded away...

the highest the bar is, the highest the need or interest is for the player. If you want to trade away a SF, look for a team with shortage in that position and th einterest bar will be higher...

I've traded draft picks before. In fact, I believe Atlanta offered me there first rounder for DaJuan Wagner (don't know why, he never plays) and I accepted, and I later dealt that pick to Charlotte for their 1st straight up.

In my opinion,it's too hard to get a 1st round pick from bottom teams.I even offered Tim Duncan for Bobcats' 1st pick, they declined,Unbelievable!!!!!

No, in NBA Live 2005 CPU very rearly initiates trades. I played dynasty where smulated all 25 seasons and I don't remember getting ANY propositions from CPU teams.

...anyone knows how to trade using a dbf commandeR?

Draft picks can cause problems with otherwise normal trades, i tend not to use them.
E.G (actual sequence, happened yeterday): I offered 2 SFs + 2nd round draft pick to the CPU for 1 player, he refused. I then offered just the 2 SFs, the computer accepted.
What does work for me in trying to get picks, making very simple trades. Such as 1 player for draft pick. This necessitates you deal w/ teams that have both roster & cap space, so it limits your choices. But i can always get the 1st round pick from CHarlotte with a decent center, i can usually get the 1st round pick from Utah with a decent perimeter player.

just go to the players in players.dbf u want and the players u want to get rid of and switch their teamID and if you want to make it more official-looking add another line into dailynws.dbf

OK, ive done it alot and heres how it works...
Ideally you wanna trade 2 players from your team for 1 player with an even salary and their 1st round pick. Ive found that sometimes a team will trade their draft pick but will not accept trades involving my draft picks.
The thing to watch for is the message you recieve if the trade is rejected.
If it says "We dont wanna trade draft picks" then they wont do it
If it says "The trade of xxx and xxx for xxx and 1st round pick has been declined" then 9/10 they will part with the pick, youve just gotta tweak it.
If your trading a young player with potential you can probably get away with a 58-61 rated player for a high-end draft pick, otherwise its more like 62-65
Hope that helps
