need help with my team

Sun May 01, 2005 5:46 am

im playin a dynasty with the Charlotte Bobcats..i did the fantasy draft.

here is my team:

starters:

C - L. Wright [68]
PF- Nene [65]
SF- D. George [72]
SG- T. McGrady [94]
PG- T. Parker [83]

bench:

PG- M. Banks [62]
SG- M. Pietrus [74]
SF- G. Robinson [56]
PF- G. Fargus [50]

i have just started my 4th season.

season 1: 51-31 i lose during the 2nd round of the playoffs
season 2: 53-29 i win the title
season 3: 50-32 i win the title

GM reating=100

salary cap= 45.34M
cap room= -9.19M

during the off season, i can never trade any players, even for players who are overall weaker than the player im trying to trade, because i have no cap room....
my question is how do you make cap room?
i would like to put some depth in my team...i am pleased with my starters, but i only have one center !!

finally, i got a message on my PDA from the owner telling me he hopes i will continue with the team..does that mean i might get offers from other teams to take over their team?

thank you for your answers

since you are over the cap, the only FAs you can sign are the ones that are asking for minimum salary. Secondly, if you wanna trade players, the green bar or the "interest" bar is very useful. Take advantage of the teams that REALLy want one of your players. A lot of the times, you can get a player that's a few points more than the player you are tradeing for. Also do some 2 for 1 trades for 3 for 1 trades for your deep bench players for players with higher ratings.

If another team has cap space, you might be able to trade some of your unwanted players for ones who have a lower salary. Alternatively, you could trade for some players with expiring contracts so you'll get more cap space at the end of the year.

This is the reason why you get no salary cap space message, you have to balance salarys.

I'll try to explane it on an example:

Say you want to get Nene from the Nuggets. Now,his salary is 3.50 M.
Now,your team is over the salary cap,to get Nene, you have to give The Nuggets players which have 3.50 M salary, with tolerance of 200.000 bucks.
If you try to trade player or players who have salary over 3.7 M or under 3.3 M ,you will get No salary cap space reply, can ya dig it?

so in order for a trade to go through when i have no salary room is to trade a player for another player of the same value, or 200.000 +/- ...

Sun May 01, 2005 10:29 pm

what about free agents? how can you sign a FA when you salary room is negative?

im talkin a FA that could be useful, not free agents with 43overall stats, lol

Thats right.

As for FA you can only re-sign players in the offseason that were in your team in your last season,You know, those two weeks in offseason before the draft, that is the only time, the rest of time you can sign only 1.1 M or under contracts and only for one season.

Don't know,I never pay attention to his messages, but usually, you only get offers when you start the off-season.

i changed the topic name, so i wouldnt have to make a new topic..

heres my team:

starters:

C - L. Wright [68]
PF- Nene [65]
SF- T. Mc Grady[94]
SG- M. Pietrus [83]
PG- T. Parker [83]

bench:

PG- M. Banks [62]
SG- D. George [84]
SF- G. Robinson [56]
PF- G. Fargus [50]

i basically a need either a good C or a good PF...wright and nene do the job, but on a long term, it doesnt work...

considering i am under the salary cap by 2M, who can i get, whether its a FA (i was thinkin Mourning), or by trade?

thx
