Draft prospect names

Tue Jan 04, 2005 8:42 pm

Hi all.

Before entering the Draft, I had a look of the European prospects' names and birthtown/birthstate, just to see if they're accurate. This is what I found:

Tarmo Renberg (Spain) -ehm... strange name for a Spanish guy-
Mark Becker (Russia) -for sure, not usual name for a Russian guy-
Jamie Nakamura (Slovenia) -a Japanese surname from Slovenia???-
Haji Chang (Iceland) -another Japenese-like surname-
Toni Prkacin (Scotland) -another strange surname for a british-
Joshua Tinordi (Danmark) -another strange surname for a Danish-
Joe Pittis (Greece) -well, Pittis is an Italian surname...-
I found another japanese name among the European prospects, don't remember what the hell was it.
More other players had a strange surname considering their birthstate, not as curious as the named above.

Also I found TWO Icelandic players were among the top ten prospect -well, I never seen the Iceland NT playing among the best in Europe. I can admit one player in the draft, but two... -

At least seven euro players were among the Top 15 projection, which is also unusual, I think.

In addition, I found NONE players from South America -Argentina or Brazil-. I found one from Mexico. No players from Australia or New Zeland were found.

Very funny, isn't it?

this is more a dynasty issues post but ahh well, you bring up an interesting point.....it's probably due to having a limited amount of Euro names and I guess they assign probabilities of draftees being from certain areas....as for no South American or Australia, that would be due to scouting trips not covering those areas in Live 2005.....here's hoping for Live 2006....

I have a related query to shoot back at you...

is that the first year of your dynasty cos in my Bobcats dynasty I have a Mark Becker, who is a 7'0" C whose 18 years old and is projected as a top 15 pick.....Jamie Nakamura is an undersized SG who is an early 2nd Round candidate....

I'm just saying all this because I'm wondering if the players are a little pre-determined.....

Here's my Bobcats dynasty and I've got some rookie scouting, if anyone wants to check it out to see if names and draft positions sound familiar....

Yeh, i 've noticed a simlar thing, though it doesn't bother me too much, hopefully its something they'll look at in 2006.

As I see in your pics, some of the prospect seem familiar to me; that's the case of Demian Reirden, Mark Becker, Jamie Nakamura, Priest Askins and Ivan Hrkac. However, other players that appear in your pics, like A.Watson or D.Bierk do not appear among my prospects.

As you said, at least some of the draftees seem to be pre-determined by the game. The rest are combination of randomized names and surnames (which is good). It would be interesting to know if other users have these pre-determined players among their prospects.

For sure, he he. Not interesting players there

Haha, that's a crackup, I would expect Andrew Watson to be in your dynasty, I'd luv it though.....

Andrew Watson is actually me.....I chose a 2nd Rder who was a good shooter & average athlete like myself and put myself in the game through dbf editing....hence the extensive bio for Watson.......

let me know if my guy ends up in your dynasty though :P

as for Bierk, he is random
