Talk about NBA Live 2005 here.

A lot of ppl asking what vid card they should get. IMO, just go for the 9800pro - its really the most cost/performance effective right now.
If you can afford something better, then you know what to do. If you can't afford it - then SAVE up and upgrade when you can - its worth it to wait.
Btw, I have an FX-5900 - comparable to the 9800pro, but the card doesn't follow DX specs to a T like the ATI series does. So it performs a lil worse on directx games (nba-live, half-life, etc.), and a lil better on opengl games (doom3 etc). Anyways, my point is don't get anything worse than the 9800pro cause you'll just have to upgrade again in a couple months..

Yeah, we should have a sticky VC recommendation thread. But I suggest that these cards be segmented by price ranges. Remember that not all NBA Live 2005 users live in the first world. There are also users in third world countries like Southeast Asia, etc. Here is my suggestion:
PRICE RANGE:
US $50-99 = low end
US $100-299 = mid end
US $300-up = high end
The R9800 Pro belongs to the mid-high end price segment here in Southeast Asia so we aren't that fortunate to get that kind of card. US $100-120 would be affordable for us. Beyond that, we're somewhat hesitant to buy, except for the VC/Gaming enthusiasts.

The video card thread, however it sunk to the bottom of the page...
