DBF help needed

Can anybody tell me how the players.dbf, appearance.dbf, and faces.dbf are linked? I have added a bunch of players, and some of them on more than one teams. Now all their faces and appearances are mixed up.
First of all, it seems that players.dbf and appearances.dbf is linked not through PLAYERID and APPEARID, but by the order which the entry was added to the file. The first entry added to the players.dbf corresponds to the first entry added to the appearance.dbf, regardless of the PLAYERID or APPEARID. And I think faces.dbf might work the same way, too. So, even though I set the PLAYERID, APPEARID, and FACEID in all three dbfs to match, it's still messed up. Can anyone tell me which value in each dbf links to another?
Also, there seems to be a lot more values to DUNKPKG this year (I think from 0 to 16). 0 is useless - not even layups. 1 seems to be basic layups, but I haven't figured the rest of them out. Any help in figuring out which value corresponds to which dunks or layups would be much appreciated.
