Game wont load on my PS2

I got the game last night on PS2, i inserted the disk and it started to load. I got the the "Playstation 2" screen and then it took me to my memory card screen!!!!
could this be because me memory card is to full to load the game? i wouldnt think so because EA game usually notify when that happens?
Can anyone help me? i am itching to get playing??

i don't have a ps2, but i have it on gamecube, and i know that it takes ALOT of space on my memory card, but it comes up with the 'memory card space too low screen' and i can just 'continue without saving'. maybe you have a faulty game.
