Which gamepad?

Sun Aug 29, 2004 9:06 am

hey ya!

In order to play live '05 on my PC, I need to buy a gamepad. Can someone post a list of which gamepads are supported?

thanks a lot!

My choice would be to get a ps1 OR 2 controller, and go to Radio SHAQ and get a PSX to USB adapter..

I know there are some other ones out there, but I highly suggest you do NOT buy a Logitech Dual Action!!!! :scold:

PS2 Dual Shock2 Controller plus PS2 to USB strongly recommended.

Is the gamepad worth buying? I have heard so much negative feedback and I'm not sure if I should buy it. If not, what gamepad is worth it? I really only need it for madden.

NOOO, don't buy it. All those people complaining are teeling the truth. this pad is the worst ever and become useless after few days.
It's a total waste of money, buy something else...I'll never buy from Logitech again in my life, never!!

Definitely not. Don't buy this gamepad. I'm thinking about going back to best buy and putting a sign up over the pads for how bad they are. There isn't a fix for the calibration issue. It's got to be a hardware issue and Logitech just won't answer anyone back on how awful this thing is. In fact the only reason that I will hold onto mine is because I'm going to wait for the class action lawsuit against logitech for this piece..... Hmmm maybe you should buy one as a future investment during the pay off.
One very dissatisfied loyal logitech customer that was burned by them... Never again....

The gamepad is horrible, it was good for 2 days, and ever since it's been useless. The solution Logitech offers for the calibration issue is to unplug, and replug the controller, that lasts for a good ten monutes. Not going to touch a logitech product ever again, I've been telling everyone I know the same.

I've had this exact same problem. The pad worked fine for a few days, then failed. I got a replacement one, same problem. I got yet another replacement one a few months ago and it has worked flawlessly since. Seems like a lot of people have this problem, but it also seems that this problem is resolved for people who got the pad (or a replacement one) recently?

Well done alcoholic. :applaud:

Like me, you seem to be on perpetual mission for stopping people buying that piece of crap. I always watch out for the buddies in this forum so they can save their money.

A joint effort is more effective. :)

Just bought this controller..its pretty nice. It's not as good as the firestorm thrustmaster in terms of butten placement ...but it has alot of nice features that let you map any keyboard and mouse function to the controller..and it has a nicer feel.

That one is amazing. I have it.

the best pc controller hands down is the nyko air flo pc. its almost exactly like the ps2 one so thats why it gets my vote. if you enjoy the xbox or gamecube controllers more then i am sure someone makes a controller that copies them.

I've Thrustmaster Firestorm Dual Power 3

For me it's very good, because it has many buttons and it's comfortable.(Y)

Download this http://europe.thrustmaster.com/products ... lpower.mov

Agreed here, best pad hands-down. It also sits in your hands a lot more comfortable than the PS2 pad.

Don't buy any of the super-cheap pads. They'll break apart soon, plus the overall quality is probably not so good, either having unresponsive buttons or analog sticks.

for the record, I have a Logitech Dual Action and it works fine for me...

but where can I find the playstation adaptor things? (yes I know it said Radio Shack earier, but can I get it anywhere else?)

Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:17 am

Is there a slowdown period with the adaptor? I thought I read that there could be a one second delay when using them.

Mon Aug 30, 2004 11:20 am

Hmm... I've never had ANY problems using the adapter/PS1 controller. It works perfect, no slowdown, no messed up calibration, no nothing. I don't really know where else other to go then Radio SHAQ, maybe some local tech store you can find..

Thanks alc. I will go get one!

Is there something wrong with using the d-pad? I use because I absolutley hate using an analog for player movement.

Tue Aug 31, 2004 8:30 am

thanks for the info

Nothing...

For me using d-pad is very very uncomfortable. I thing analogs are many times better...

Wed Sep 01, 2004 3:11 am

How can you hate analog? I like analog a lot and... YOU CAN WALK WITH IT! I use D-Pad for quick plays. I walk up and down the court tapping the crossover button, and he just goes through his legs really nice and cool.
