Problems Installing the Game...

Postby RSM007 on Wed Aug 10, 2005 2:28 am

I just bought this for the PC, thinking I'd get through the installation quickly. Well, as always, I'm having problems getting this to even get to the second disc. About halfway during the 1st disc installs the directx needed (9.0b), it tells me that "The software has not passed Windows Logo testing to verify its compatibility with Windows XP". Then it stops installing and closes everything and it gets on my nerves. I'm downloading one of the versions of DirectX now, but I'm not sure it's exactly why I need. I've downloaded another DirectX that was higher than 9.0b and restarted the installation but the same thing occurs. I forgot how to find the system spec of my computer. My birthday's tomorrow and my father might have wasted $20 for nothing and I'd hate to tell him that this didn't work, so I'd appreciate any help very, very much.

Just a bit of an update...I ALMOST was able to download DirectX 9.0c, but when it finished installing it said something along the lines of "The cabinet file cannot be trusted." I was so close, is there a way to fix this or get past this?

Well, I go to the update page with Firefox and it says I need to get the update with Internet Explorer version 6 or something so I go and try to download that. When it's done, it says I already have a version of it, but when I do the same with IE it goes to a page on how to install ActiveX controls. I see step #1, but I can't do it because the bar or something that's supposed to be under the address bar isn't there, so I'm basically screwed.

i think the nba live cds have some software ready for you to install. browse in the disc 1 and look for directx and internet explorer packages in there. if memory serves me right it is in the support folder. install these updates first and try installing the game.

oh yeah please post your specs

I still have the same problem trying to update both, especially DirectX. That was the problem in the beginning, was that I couldn't update with the disc update. How do I post my specs?

got it, just read through it. from what i can tell you have 2 grafical cards in there. probably 1 on-board (the Riva TNT) and 1 AGP. Make sure you are using the AGP one.

about Directx... go to start - run and type "dxdiag", check if it gives you any problems there (there's a summary on the bottom of every tab).
you can also see what version you have there.

try getting DirectX through this:

post back results. good luck.
