Interesting Ray Allen Story

Postby Silas on Sat Aug 06, 2005 5:01 am

I was playing Dynasty Mode as the New York Knicks. Earlier in the season i had traded Stephon Marbury, Quentin Richardson, and some bad player i forgot for Ray Allen and Rashard Lewis. Later i ended up trading Rashard and Jamaal Crawford for Carmello and somebody else i forget. Anyway, it was several years in the future, Ray was about 33 and had a rating of 85. He wanted to resign for 13 million for one year, and James Posey (I acquired him in a diff trade) wanted 18 Million for two years and had a rating of 76. I had only ten million in cap space and i decided to not resign either of them because i didnt want to go over the limit. I signed Ben Gordan (81 overall) for 8 million and hten a backup pg and pf. I simmed the rest of the free agent signings and trade time and still nobody had resigned ray allen or james posey. I go about halfway through the season and still nobody has signed the players. I finish the season, they still havent been signed, i sim the off season and start the season after that and they still havent been signed, but ray allen is now asking for 10 million for one season and posey is asking for about 15 or 14 for two seasons. Has this ever happened to you? A solid starter and a superstar never being signed by any team?

They FA superstars usually end up signing with their former teams after the resigning and FA signing period is completed, with their CPU controlled teams blatantly violating Salary Cap rules.

I don't think it is a violation though. Correct me if I'm wrong, but we call them restricted FAs (there is no distinction made in the game between restricted/unrestricted), then they could theoretically resign the player even if they are over the cap.

well it has been 2 seasons nobody has resigned him. I didnt want to spend a boatload of money on him when he would only get worse and i could sign ben gordan and a much needed backup pg for 1 mil (58 overall) and a backup pf for like 875k (55 overall) so i think i did well, it is just funny how nobody signed him.

maybe he's too old and asking too much money.

well hes still an 85, its just kinda a weird turn of events where the people who need him cant afford him and the people who can afford him dont need him and dont sign him. I'm still glad i signed ben gordan.

lol ya i was playin with lakers (resigned shaq from legends pool just to have him) after 5 years shaq wanted to resingn for 14 mil for 3 yrs (good deal) but kobe wanted 12 mil for 2 yrs i let kobe go and kept shaq got a good trade for ginobili later (no clue how sucky trade)

half way through the 3rd season after i let go of kobe my team owner suggested getting some free agents to have a better roster

when i went to free agents kobe was still there amased not thinking i signed a 5 yr contract 65 mil then had to release like 6 players to get back my cap space ended up with a 7 player roster
