Rookie Destiny Ratings

Postby spreeul8r on Thu Jul 14, 2005 10:28 am

I couldnt help but notice that so many of the 1st round picks went into a rapid decline after the first season. So I checked their destiny ratings and many had 5, 6 and even 8 as their destiny rating. I realise some rookies do turn out to be busts, however i dont think so many of the top 10 will be.

Destiny is basically potential right? So just using the top ten picks for example:

Bogut = 1 Bogut continues to improve into an amazing player.
M.Williams = 4 Williams will probably slowly decline
D.Williams = 4 Deron same
Paul = 6 Paul will decline fairly rapidly
Felton = 3 Felton will probably just maintain
Webster = 3 same
Villanueva = 3 same
Frye = 3 same
Diogu = 1 Continued improvement, become very good player
Bynum = 8 Spiral rapidly out of shape, skills deminishing like hes 40

You have probably tested the effects of these ratings better than i have so im open to being corrected. But i just dont see Bynum, who has had an impressive summer league start, going into a rapid decline once he turned pro. Actually i dont think any of them should. Maybe they can just plateau, but maintain there current status (not good enough to make roster) untill they hit around 28 and then slowly begin to drop off more. Chris Paul doesnt deserve to go into a instant decline either.

Anyways, thats enough of my rant for now.

Great work on the rosters, hope you can continue the good work :D
``They play the game the way it's supposed to be played,'' Iverson said. ``It's not about athletics. That's the game the way Karl Malone and John Stockton play it. It's good for kids to see how the game is supposed to be played.''

Actually I neglected to fix those up in v1.14, it's one of the things I'll be doing this offseason. As I said when I released the rosters I won't be getting everything right with the rookies the first time. It takes a long time to create all the draftees, I prefer to get that done then fix their ratings with the help of the community. (Y)

marvin williams has the most potential or 'upside' in the top 10 - without a doubt. Bogut, granted he's more NBA ready right now, is not going to be a superstar in 4 years.

He's only 1 year older than Williams and he's not exactly going to get worse... but yeah Williams apparentely has the most potential out of them, hence him being drafted so high.
