When I create a new team, do I need at least 7 guys on my team? Thanks.

You need at least 8 players on your team. That's roster slots 0-7.

i would of told him you need 6 so i could watch him come back 3 hours later saying "no! you need 8" in which he would just be finding out himself, I like to promote self-reliance

The game will likely crash if you try to re-order the rosters, make a trade or sign a player to the custom team.
