I was wondering is it possible to set the resolution higher than 1280 X 1024 ? Because my wide aspect monitor is best at 1680 X 1050.

you get used to it after a while. i'm playing it 1024x768 on a 1280x800 screen. after a few games you dont even notice it anymore.
