Grant Hill, fast break?

Postby Packer on Mon Feb 21, 2005 11:22 am

In the game, when my PG got a steal and run the fast break, although Hill was already ahead of him, he stopped by the arc instead of running towards the rim. I really want to make some alley-play with Hill (even not a dunk)

Thx

Don't run your pg much. you need the turbo meter to complete a fast-break.

When you keep running, the meter goes down and so will a chance for a good break. use the boost button wisely. you have to complete the pass while hill is running (turbo).

hope it helps. :D

What i do to get a nice alley play is i use the off ball. I play with the magic too and when your on a fast break and you see Hill coming on the side just click the R3 button and you should be able to do one. Im not sure it this is what your askin or not.

Thx guys.

Ronchie, I understand push the ball all the way w/ PG. However, Hill's speed seems to slow down this year (maybe in reality as well?). So I can't pass the ball to him too quickly if there's defender backing to their territory, or his way will be blocked.

Truballa, what's the "off ball" function? I may haven't use it fully yet.

For PS2, Its when you hold down R3 and you can become a player without the ball and still be able to call for the ball or tell the man dribbling to shoot. Ex.- Say your Orlando with Hill at the SF and Francis at point. You would hold down R3 and press X and then you control him and press R2 for the alley. It sounds difficult, I know. But it really isnt that hard.

Got ur pt.

So less likely, I could be holding the ball, and CPU-controlled Hill would running towards the rim? I wonder why some others (HOT guys like Lebron, Ray Allen) would do. Maybe the PRIMACY value?

well, off-ball is a more effective way of running fast breaks. but it sometimes takes time to hold r3.

i guess its about their off awareness rating... because some players run towards the basket.

I think it's mostly luck when the guys keep running once they catch the pass. If you see a guy running on the fast break with his hand up and a clear path to the basket, he'll normally keep running.

Thx u all. And after tuning the PRIMACY, I find more active those guys are (ori. Hill is just 73 and I now tune that to just around 80). I think that works more, maybe?
